A friend told me that there was a tent in Ratha selling some halberds. I was wondering if anyone had appraised them and could tell me if they're just fluffy halberds, or have standard or above standard appraisals?

Isn't the lochaber axe on Ratha? From what I've seen, the most powerful halberd out there.... pretty heavy though, IIRC. If you're talking about a merchant or something like that, then I don't know.

Yup. The forge there carries it. 62 stone. Fun weapon, but not real practical.

Actually, its very practical considering the damage it does. Its just not a good starter weapon.

Lochaber Axe - 62 stones, poor/great/severe poorly balanced, reasonably suited, average strength. 62 stones with severe impact is alot of WOOMPH alone... add great slice to that, and you just get a big messy explosion. Picture a standard 2HB mattock with great slice, and a little lighter... and that's the lochaber.

Year round and have been for years. If I ever get a connect at home, they'll also be sold on a table in Crossing on a regular basis. <g> They aren't cheap, however, 16 plat lirum and 25 plat kronar, if you catch me on the mainland and order one. (Just ask any of the horde)
