"Feint" vs "Feint neck"... RT problem? (WAS Re: Attack Combinations) on 07/27/2006 10:25 PM CDT
Re: "Feint" vs "Feint neck"... RT problem? (WAS Re: Attack Combinations) on 07/28/2006 08:39 PM CDT
Did you hit or miss on either? If it was a miss on either or both, then that could explain it. If this is something that always happens when you're hitting it every time, then I've got no idea. Never seen it happen.

My guess would be that you're not skilled enough. The neck's a hard spot to hit, going to be harder to fient/slice/chop/anything at the neck as opposed to a general attack. When you miss by a long shot, sometimes you'll have a shorter RT than usual. Think of it as a baseball player checking their swing as opposed to following all the way thru. That may be what you're seeing. However, miss by a REAL long shot, and you'll get a huge RT.

What you are seeing is a bug. It was posted in the combat boards, and I'd link the thread but well lets all beg that wonderful person to put up the board search engine again! Anyway if you try FEINT (garbagetext) you will get a huge round time, no matter what. Try it (just not against mammoths or flex zombies ok?).

Ahhh, okay. There was more information to be supplied. The 1s RT on targetted and 4s RT on non targetted feints apply at all times, whether I hit or miss. I also undertrain greatly and use Desert's Maelstrom to ensure I rarely if ever miss. I like with the not missing.
Okay, further testing shows that any "feint <body part>" as well as "feint <target>" give 1s RT as well. I am looking for an escort to something that so out-classes me as to give me the huge feint RT. Next up, trying to find a heavy enough ME to test to see if it works there, too. Ahhh, more experiments...
BoteL "feint <garbagetext>" seems to give me this response: "I could not find what you were referring to." There was no sequence that I could find in order to gain a huge RT. I got an escort to rockies, "stance offense 0"'d and tested further. 6s RT on "feint" one time and still 1s on "feint troll" or "feint <body part>".

Looks like just a bug...
Some text doesn't get any response at all from the game, other text gives increased RT while other gives reduced RT.

feint e (applies to any letter from help if used alone including p when I try to attack peccaries as well as help, he, hel)
You can simply "feint" at an opponent for a very quick attack that deals minimal damage. You can also "feint draw", "feint slice", etc. at an opponent for an attack that takes as long as the normal attack and has the balancing properties of that attack, but does the damage and provides the defense of a quick feint.

We know the cause. Just a matter of getting to it.
Don't type junk as the second feint command because it's probably going to choke.
This popped up when we added a new parser for some upcoming special attacks (that feint now uses).
