I'll give you folks a heads up now. This may very well change with smithing 2.0 to lesser and greater degrees. At present the thought is to have rumor be something of a wildcard. You'll never know just how much truth there is in it, no matter how skilled you are.

Truth of course hurts. Blunt truth will most likely be a very potent weapon in the right hands.

However smithing 2.0 will also deal in armor and I'm proud to say that I'll do my best to make sure ignorance does indeed become a defense. What you don't know can't hurt you.

That depends entirely upon the truth content of the rumor before it was smelted down. Obviously the truth won't hurt the innocent. Again that is a wildcard aspect of rumors and won't be something you can analayze or appraise in advance (and sometimes not even afterwards).

That the guild teams and I are discussing. We want to determine exactly who will benefit most from ignorance and in what manners. However keep in mind that a justice rewrite is still pending and it may be determined that to balance out the amazing defensive prowess of ignorance that it might well end up being contraband or regulated. You know the old saying, ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Not Oolan (clearly), but if Forging 2.0 really is waiting on the mech split, the mech split is waiting on bit-based exp. I'm all of a sudden really depressed, that's a lot of work. I'll go brew a cup of coffee for ya'll!
