I forgot to mention, I want a 21 stone broadsword to improve my heavy-edged RT. Currently I'm using a broadsword bought from the Crossing, and with my current strength and agility (27 and 16 respectively), the RT ranges from 4 sec for a feint to 7 sec for sweep/slice/chop. With a 21 stone broadsword I'm sure I could achieve 3-4 second RTs.

Anyone out there willing to forge the sword for me? =)

Longswords can be made lighter than broadswords, either 19 or 20 stones, if weight is all that you're concerned about.

According to http://66.96.190.72/RT.htm, you'd get a 6-7 sec RT.

1H: (l/g/l/f/f) 2H: (l/s/f/r/r) - well constructed 36 stones.

...was wondering if i should get a broadsword or something, I train shield so I don't use 2he....and the 7-9 second RT is abit much. I know the wieght will be good when I get bigger so I think I'll hold onto it.

Basties are nice, but if you want to go HE & Shield, broadswords are better.

I believe you can get them made at 21 stones.

Until you do, try out the Elven Longsword in Riverhaven. I think it's 25 stones. Definitely lighter than a stock broadsword.

does the heavyer it is the more health it takes away still hold up? I remember hearing that back before agility was a factor.

...as for the elven longsword, I'm Rakash :-p

I probly have enough plats around to buy a forged broadsword...if they can be made better then the bastie I have now wile still being lighter...

You can get heavy slice broadswords at 21 stones. They are fairly common on the market. I believe they app at LML FF. A decent blade for a decent price. Will serve you much better at that strength than your bastie is at nearly twice the weight.

Yes, it's true you will see less damage per hit. However, you'll be hitting noticeably faster, thereby improving your position and balance faster. End result; you'll be killing faster too.

Vault the bastie for a year or two, and get yourself a sturdy broadsword.

Elven longswords are 28 stones, and the best choice for a starter HE. Forged broadswords do max out at heavy slice and 21 stones. For pure HE, those two swords can not be beat.

My 21 stone broadsword apps like so:

>app broa careful
A broadsword is a heavy edged type weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
low puncture damage
heavy slice damage
low impact damage

You are certain that the broadsword is fairly balanced and is fairly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the broadsword is moderately strong, and is in pristine condition.

The broadsword is made with metal.
The broadsword feels pretty light.
You are certain that the broadsword is worth exactly 460 lirums.
Roundtime: 16 seconds.
>l broa
Impressed into the metal is the image of a rampaging peccary before an erupting volcano. Surrounding the design in diminutive lettering are the words, "Elothean Pigsmasher".

Not reasonable balance, unfortunately.

You put your broadsword on the counter.

Naissura hefts the broadsword and puts it on the medium balance scale. She patiently adds small sacks of stones on the other side till the beam becomes exactly level.

Naissura squints at the balance beam needle and says, "The broadsword weighs about twenty-one stones," and puts the broadsword on the counter.

You pay Naissura and take your broadsword off the counter.

I'm gonna see if I can get ahold of Shadowar and see if she'll make me one...if she'll keep her pidgeon awake long enough.

Also I tryed the elven longsword and I don't like the damage vs RT trade off. For 2 seconds faster I get less damage...

The elven longsword really is a good weapon for beginners (read poor) and it at least hits harder than it appraises, but if you can afford a forged broadsword, that's the way to go.

Yuppers. I went this route and never regretted it. Doesn't take that much longer to swap blades in a harness than it does to swap a bastie. Then, if you want to get really sick damage, get a massive claymore to work 2HE. I have a BC slice/mod impact claymore I adore and it's way more fun than a bastie. You should see what it does to sandies. <smirk> It might weigh 52 stone, but you know what, the sheer damage it can do is dreadfully entertaining, and my little broadsword works beautifully at circle.

About the only reason I can see going to a bastie is for the better balance when you've already gotten minimum roundtimes with the extra weight.

Actually, if you read what I wrote, you'll see that you'll never get fair impact and reasonable balance on a 21 stone broadsword. I know what I'm talking about, despite being a war mage. This is an altered 34 stone broadsword.

A darkened war blade with an ironwood hilt is a heavy edged type weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
low puncture damage
heavy slice damage
fair impact damage

You are certain that the blade is fairly balanced and is reasonably suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the war blade is moderately strong, and is in pristine condition.

So please, next time, read what's posted before you try to insult someone.

Magdar Broad, 21 stones.

I dont think you can get fair impact with normal metals on 21 stones, but this one is a pretty damn good sword especially considering the weight.

Lil fyi, there will come a point there you will need to train stats up, well combat stats. I had a 12 reflex and i couldnt fight under level with snowbeasts. Even though from what i know i had way more than enough to fight them. I got my reflex to 18 not a problem anymore... for now.

Train that agility or get killed basically. I know that one from experience. I used to have 100 ME and 14 agility. Rock trolls could kill me because I couldn't hit them. Got my agility up and now I can dance over their graves all day long.

Only work if you plan on getting all your combats from classes. Generally, with the way DR is going, the only guild I know of who doesn't need that much agility is Empath. <wry grin> And I'm sure, in the next few rounds of changes, that will as well.

Basically, train all stats equal, just like train all skills equal, no matter your guild. Simple, doesn't leave you gutted every time the powers that be decide to change everything and you can just keep hunting the same critters your entire life. (Since you're constantly backtraining weapons/armor for the next round of nerfing.)
