Hi,
I've been using a 36 stone scimitar for some time and was curious if there are better ME's out there at all.
Is 36 the best I can get without rare/weird/expensive weapons?

Depends what you want forged. Since I don't really attack with my blade much, I use it for parry so I had a scimitar custom forged with as much balance as possible and it does the trick. You could also say screw construction and get one custom forged with some pretty great stats.
But I'll let the forgers go into specifics.

I still prefer the 35 stone iltesh. There are multiple versions, one of which is readily accessible by Traders I believe. The trader shop version (called a razor edged dueling iltesh or something) is identical to this one, except this one has better construction:
A curved steel iltesh with an ironwood pommel carved into the shape of a leaf is a medium edged melee-ranged weapon.
You are certain that it could do:
moderate puncture damage
moderate slice damage
low impact damage
You are certain that the iltesh is reasonably balanced and is fairly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.
You are certain that the steel iltesh is well constructed, and is in pristine condition.
Takes some gonads for minimum RT so low circles probably wouldn't like it, but by 50's I do not believe it would be an issue for most. It seems to do pretty nice damage with the pummel attack.
I use feint/draw/sweep/slice/chop, and when I want to finish something, I add lunge/thrust/jab/pummel. There may be better ways, my character is not melee prime, but it works for me.

There's also a slight difference in puncture damage in favor of the dueling iltesh when the two are compared:

The version of the iltesh compared in the post is the one currently sold in the Muspar'i trader shop, not the fest or Crossing trader shop (no longer sold there) versions.

For dancing I use my moonblade, as it has a high end excellent balance, but like no attack power.
I was really looking for what had the most attack power.
