If you are going to use ME what is the ultimate weapon, RT and STR needed to get that roundtime? Just seeing what I am working towards and how much STR I am going to need to add to my little eloth body.

A gleaming iltesh is a medium edged type weapon.
You are certain that it could do:
devastating puncture damage
moderate slice damage
fair impact damage
You are certain that the iltesh is excellently balanced and is fairly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.
You are certain that the gleaming iltesh is incredibly hard, and is in pristine condition.
The gleaming iltesh is made with metal.
You are confident that the gleaming iltesh probably weighs a few tens of stones.
You are unable to determine the value of the gleaming iltesh.

If you're an Elothean and don't care about the elven blades, then go with a heavy-slice forged scim. For ultimate buy one made of special metals. Getting minimum RT on, say, a 30-some stone scimitar should not be too difficult, even for an Elothean.

<<,For those of us that have been around for a while, I would say the mirror blade.. Can't really beat an excellent/excellent weapon, even it it is not all that sharp!
Didn't Ssra mention something about downtweaking the stat bonuses in weapons calc and uptweaking the importance of ranks? I seem to remember reading that. Would the mirror blade still be better then?
And Navak, where is that sword? I wanna see it so I can drool... and dream.

<<Scimitars kinda cap out at 33-36 stones. They're gonna be the best ME's. That'll take 31-32 effective strength.>>
The 33-36 stone scims are those the heavy slice ones? And why are they the best ME's? Just asking to satisfy my curiosity, what am I looking at paying for one of those ME's?

Yeah, they're heavy slice. P/H/L F/R if memory recalls without pulling one out. You can get P/H/P F/F at 26 stones... but impact is cool.
The reason why they're the best ME's is because.... there's nothing better. duck Well, slicers are better than stabbers at straight combat, so, that rules out the usefulness of rapiers, sabre, etc. At that point you really only have hand axes, scimitars, cutlasses and a few other types of weapons. The fest throwing axes are a damn good ME as well. They're going to be P/M/L F/F at 40 stones if memory serves. Cutlasses as a general class really really suck (although the one from the last fest was actually really neat.) Ilteshes are alright I suppose, I wouldn't use them, but I don't mind people that do. :) The puncture is just kinda gratuitous. Yes you can lunge if you want to... but I just don't find the times in which I need to do that very plentiful.
And... you shouldn't pay more than 20 plat for any forged weapon, in my opinion. I would look for one around 10-15. 20 only if I'm desperate.

I was looking to get an Iltesh, what different varieties are there? And where do you find them, and at what prices?

There is(was?) one sold in the Muspar'i Trader Shop. It's a razor-edged dueling iltesh. Apps at mod/mod/low reas/fair FS (33 stones). There is also a curved iltesh with a fancy-schmancy hilt. It was sold at a merchant with lots of Elven clan stuff. If I remember correctly, it's slightly better on one of the aspects (probably construction) than the Trader Shop iltesh. Recently (on Andreshlew) there was a ceremonial Elven iltesh auctioned. In any non-Elf's hands, I believe it appraises like the Trader Shop iltesh. When held by an Elf, though, the puncture goes up to heavy. Not a phenominal boost like the Dwarven tunneler's axe in Dwarven hands, but I like it anyway.

There was also an iltesh sold at a weapons merchant at the Outcast festival. I don't have an appraisal for you, but it is a pretty weapon.

I guess this has been asked before, but -
What exactly is the effect of impact in a slicing weapon?
Looking at the stats, I would expect the weapon's heavy slice to overshadow any change in impact damage between poor and low, so I guess I'm missing something.

<<Impact and slice aren't exclusive. A slice will deal both slice and impact damage to the target. This is especially seen in things like heavy impact claymores which will knock critters over.
Yeah. But with sufficient strength, a bone-crushing claymore having low or poor impact damage won't make much difference at all. It's a little more important with an ME I guess, but if it doesn't do at least do 'fair' damage then I don't factor it into my damage potential anyways.
