Can you get any decent weapon out of a forged hand axe? I'm looking to switch to axes and hammers only. Yay RP.

Made out of hard steel. Probably not. Unless by "decent weapon", you mean garbage.

Long before forged weapons, there was a ME axe I was very fond of -- the curlade. You can grab it down in Shard, I believe in Steelclaw Clan, for the better part of a plat. It's not gonna hold a candle to a high-end forged scim, but I enjoyed the curlade because it has fair/fair slice/impact instead of fair/low like your average ME axe-type.

That's the best ME axe I've ever found in a store. If you hear about anything significantly better, do tell, I'd be curious to play with it. <g>

The Flargo throwing axes are mod slice, fair impact, fairly/fairly. Real decent ME's.

Forged hand axes work better than the appraisal looks. The only problem with them is the construction.

A blood red axe is a medium edged melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
low puncture damage
moderate slice damage
low impact damage

You are certain that the axe is dismally balanced and is well suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the blood red axe is of average strength, and is practically in mint condition.

The blood red axe is made with metal.
The blood red axe feels light.
You are certain that the blood red axe is worth exactly 300 lirums.
Roundtime: 8 seconds.

While we're on this subject.

I played years ago and am back for a bit. When I quit, forging had just been introduced, and no one had really taken it on, yet. Anyway, I'm looking for a good store-bought ME. Back in the day I used a Hanger (40-something Ranger), but now I'm looking at its stats and it doesn't look any better than a Crossing scimitar. I can't for the life of me figure out why I used it.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a good store-bought ME? I'd just like a step up from a regular Scimitar.

Thanks in advance.

It should be noted that forged scims aren't that costly (will run you about the same as those storeboughts, I think?).

Eww.... jabbers suck. Not to mention that the acid--etched sabre from shard is even better.

I like jabbers. ;p Even if they do tank my defensives, whihc means my parry, shield and evasion get a good work out!

Strange, when I use a jabber my Empath friends get a work out and Catrox gives me more bills to pay.

Maybe he has two empath friends named Evasion and Shield, and just horribly misspelled 'parry' for 'pay'.

Well, the reason I'm asking about store-bought is mostly because I've been away for so long, and have no idea who to get in contact with about a forged weapon, or where to go to get in contact with them. I'd be willing to go that way if I just knew how. It's been literally years since I played. Don't remember a lot of things (not to mention forging was so new when I left that no one could do it well yet).

You can find plenty of weapons for sale at the Trader tents in Crossing. From the reflex trainer, go SE and then go tent.

Or maybe the gin has gone to my head and made for far too many typos. Which would be a good time to log out of DR and log in to GS since the screw up factor is more relaxed if I oppsie in combat. ;p I still like thrusting weapons.

The parang from Muspar'i is a beautiful slicing ME with a mean bite. Or you could try a scim from Marachek's Oak in Ilithi: When I had one of those, I never had to repair it. And I was using it to fight gargoyles.

Funny part is, I've always heard lousy things about crossings scims, easy to break against gargs, bad balance, etc. Elizz hunted premie gargs for quite a long time & never ever broke her scim, heck I dont think the thing ever even got dinged, course gargs made me parinoid about using her bonded razor scim against them.

I might check out that parang though, from Muspar'i, Elizz town, sounds like it might be elven or s'kra type of name so quite fitting for her & is a ME, mean bite is always a plus.
Yes, I dont like using forged blades because usually they are expansive so I get worried about her loosing them, or getting broken as I dont always look at her blades. Figure if is a gold or two (although I'm getting them for free lately due to a 5finger discount) I dont care if she looses it or it gets broke, no big lose, unlike a 5-10 or more plat blade.

I'm really curious though now if thats a elven language or a s'kra language, anyone know for sure? Porlock?

Arce, are there still Iltesh's around (I mean, vendor bought)? I just lost mine tonight due to an errant death in a remote area, and the iltesh was one of my favorite weapons. Granted it isn't quite as nice as much forged stuff...but when I shell out for forged weapons it will most likely be a little later, when I can get a slighty heavier version at min rt to up the stats.

I believe the Iltesh's come up every so often in the trader shop. Contact a trader in game to go look for ya. They typically go for about 5 plat if i remember right.
