Armor Setups I like to Recommend to Customers:

2 armor Mixes:

LC Shirt/LC Gloves HC Greaves/HC Helm (HC Visored Helm or HC helm forged w/ Leather mask for eyes)

HP Half Plate/HP Gaunts LP Greaves/LP Armet Helm

3 Armor Mixes:

LC Shirt/HC Greaves/Leather Cowl & Gloves

LC Shirt/HC Greaves/HP Great Helm & Gaunts

4 Armor Mixes:

LP Breastplate, Armor 1 Greaves, Armor 2 Vambs, Armor 3 Helm & Hands

On the 4 armor set ups I will often recommend going with HP on the Helm & Hands just b/c then you can remain with all forged w/o having to introduce an eye mask. But there is no reason why using a chain on Helm/Head is bad.

5 - 7 armors: I tell them to look at my catalog and see whats available via bone & Cloth and design their own setup.

I don't necessarily want to go into a long discourse as to why these are my recommendations. One could discuss the merit of swapping out pieces in combat, the bonuses and flaws in these setups, and more til the cows come home. The discussion of how to combine armors and which ones to choose comes up a lot - so I just wanted to contribute the ways I most often recommend to customers based on what I've learned/experienced.

Why do most of your set ups not include arm protection? I see most of those are breastplates with gauntlets but no vambraces/armbands/etc.

Each line is the full set up. LC Shirts and HP Half plates Cover Torso and Arm. I grouped the pieces by armor type. The LC Lorica covers Torso only, but there is no Forged HP or HC piece that covers torso only.

Yeah, I'm using (all from you, Redarch forged) LP Breastplate, HP greaves, LC Vamba, HP Helm (Visored)(Not forged yet though), HC neck, and HC Hands. I'm really happy with it, it gets LP+HP moving even, with LC and HC moving even behind them, usually by 2 mindstates. I'm fairly hindered, and only lightly with YS and I really like it.

Pretty awesome considering you are training 4 different armors.

Lets not get into that here, anyone can use the same set up and be fairly hindered, possibly better without a buff, it is no where near what a paladin can do with stuff more hindering with better protection. The fact is Ahnoui sells awesome stuff, and it's very nice to have someone you can go to for all your armor needs.

I'm not really certain what being armor Primary, Secondary or Tert has anything to do with it. Yes, Warmies have a Spell (YS) that allows them to train more armors w/o as much Hind but the only real gain from that is TDPs (sure its nice, but the spell will be chainge one day). Any Armor Tert Guild I argue should train at least 2 armors, and consider throwing a third (or more) into the mix when they can handle it for extra TDPs. That Goes for Empaths, Thieves, and Bards.

Pallies are Primary and every one I know trains at least 4 armors, most eventually will do all 7.

For Secondary - most barbs do at least 2, some three these days. (Leather/LC/HC). I'm a Trader and I train all four Forged. I'd train leather still if I could find a way to combine it with the forged armors and still learn each piece at a rate I could be satisfied with. The only current advantage to training cloth & bone is the extra TDPs or to prep for the day they will become "real" armors.

To steer away from the guild vs. guild discussion, I disagree that the only reason to train multiple armors is for TDP's. That may be the main reason for a lot of people, but there are other reasons for multiarmor training. In the case of plate, wearing a different type of body armor with some plate accessories can help offset the extra hinderance that plate tends to add. One might one their character to be chain, leather/cloth, or bone armor prime but place plate hand armor adds some nice extra brawling damage. Finally, it might just come down to RP and how you want to view your character. Maybe he/she has a pair of plate greaves passed down from generation to generation but prefers bone armor. Maybe your character likes to have their core extra protected in some plat but the mobility of cloth on his or her extremities.

Multi-armor training is also valuable for stealth purposes.

Most of my characters train leather and LC. When hiding or poaching I go for an all-leather set-up, when hunting normally it's leather body and chain accessories.

Not to mention not all places have all armor-types- so if you say lose your armor in the middle of an invasion you won't be completely up a creek when it comes to getting a hurried replacement!
