Does anyone know if QS will ever enter the realm of skill-based weapon creation? I noticed mention of qs in Fletching 2.0, but saw no details, if this happens to be where it'll be handled. Any details would be fantastic.

Also, just out of idle curiosity, are there actually that many dedicated QS users in the realms? It's certainly my main weapon, but I'm only a middle-ish character, so that doesn't mean but so much.

Thanks a ton

My empath is. Although he's taken to using a partisan so he can learn halberd as well. Been using it all his life. Figured free weapons would be good for an empath. <g> Just wish they were balanced as well as the real thing. They were incredible parry weapons, better than anything else out there, back when.

One of my Rangers was QS primary, up until about 100 ranks. Then it just wasn't cutting it anymore, damage dealt vs exp gained, compared with RT incurred and weapon choice led me to drop it. I certainly hope QS gets some loving, I picked up about 5 partisans to backtrain it. Someday.

And by weapon choice I actually meant the various templates that QS come in. Theres... one light-ish but no so great hitting one, one heavy and decent hitting, and... really heavy and decent hitting. Heh. Sleep deprivation hurtz.

Quarterstaff is among my top weapons, I am a Ranger. Above it are only Longbow and Medium Edge.

My Bard has been Quarterstaff-prime from day one, so that was back in '98 or so? I agree, the templates are a little disheartening. I recently took stock of all my various staffs and they're all flimsy or average construction, and upon using one of the average ones for a week or two its construction was down to flimsy from repairing. What made that odd is it was getting damaged more often than the bo stick I used just before it, which is already flimsy construction.

After that staff, I moved to the leaf-bladed spear from To The Teeth. I haven't used its pike side at all yet, but it makes a fantastic staff.

I still use an 18 stone cane from the old days.

QS is my 4th weapon and I use it alot, I've been working hard to get it and short staff (ugh short staff) up to even with my first three. QS is actually a great weapon if you can handle the heavier ones, Nuja, Partisan, Atwapi.

Up till the fest I would have said it's great being the only pole-ranged blunt, but a pole-ranged two-handed blunt was sold at the fest with bone-crushing impact was it? So that beats out any QS mold I've seen.

I've been using an old 18 stone cane, too. Very scarey, though. If I lose it, I've got nothing that's worth replacing it with, unfortunetly.

On the other hand, these partisans from the fest. I've not taken a very close look at them, but are they worth anything in a fight? I've not yet seen a store bought qs that didn't crumble in just a few hits.

Just out of random curiosity... does there exist a folder you don't post in, Vision? :grins: I'm a pretty avid reader and don't think I've seen one without you yet.

yes they are:

>appr parti
A partisan with a broad woodgrain-steel blade is a quarter staff pole-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
fair puncture damage
moderate slice damage
great impact damage

You are certain that the partisan is poorly balanced and is fairly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the partisan is fairly sturdy, and is in pristine condition.

The partisan is made with metal.
You are certain that the partisan weighs about 66 stones.
You are certain that the partisan is worth exactly 43200 lirums.
Roundtime: 8 seconds.
R>swap parti
You switch your partisan so that you can use it as a halberd weapon.

I have very limited ranks in both skills (25 lessons in QS, Halberd) and i can wreck anything that teaches at those ranks (boars, shamans, etc.), I just love it. Have never damaged it but haven't fought gargs or nothin with it yet.
Hope that helps..

Also, the glaive sold at the fest isn't bad either. Less hitting power but still quite good and moderately strong, I believe. Also, a bit lighter than the partizan, which is what induced me to get it.

Lol! Yes, there are a few, but I think I manage to hit most of the main ones... ;)
