I'm trying something that I think is a bit unusual. Previously I've always worked LC as an armor tert, but due to wanting to drop my stealth hinderance, I'm starting to train cloth. I'm kinda at the point where it feels like if I get hit with anything at all, cloth or LC, I'm going to lose the body part.

Facing such a dilemma, I started holding my shield instead of wearing it to get extra protection. So far its been great... I get more coverage and haven't gotten a random one-shot since.

So now I'm considering the far far end of this spectrum.



Stealthy cloth armor user + held tower shield. What do you think? What are the best shields I can get/tan? I'm thinking to drop my normal hinderence to minimal with cloth armor and then still be in acceptable ranges for stealth with a tower shield. I have around 625 ranks currently by the way as a tert user.

What about if I'm insignificantly hindered with a small shield and insignificant with a medium shield, then would there be any purpose to stick with the small shield?

Even if both read as insignificant, there is a range of difference that won't be enough to register as a "full" level of hindrance - Likely only 3~5% more in the case of insignificant...but, it does add up.

Warrior's Tower Shield is the best large shield that isn't ridiculously rare (fair hindrance instead of mod) - If I recall, tanned shields hinder slightly less than tanned bucklers, in exchange for being slightly less durable.
