Exactly what the title says.

It'd have the same stat range as a throwing axe, since that was it is.

However, the opposite end of the blade on tomahawks have sometimes been hammers, so it could be a swappable ME/MB LT.

Also interesting are the pipe tomahawks, which are actually pipes and tomahawks combined.

We could even go by the original name of tamahaac.

Thoughts?

Don't care what the name is, but I would love to see this be a forging template.

A weapon I can smoke out of? Sign me up!

Seriously though, I've always wished that functional pipe tomahawks were available in some form. Love this idea.

I googled this, because I'd never thought of the distinction between a tomahawk and a regular hatchet.

Aside from the noun, there wasn't much differentiating them from a typical hatchet or small/throwing axe. The most literal definition I found was 'a trade axe used for war'.

Did I miss something, are these functionally different somehow? I can respect the desire for a different noun, so I'm not throwing jabs.

There are some slight variations between a traditional tomahawk and a standard hatchet, but the short answer would be no. A tomahawk is basically just a type of hatchet. Though if you're interested enough for a detailed explanation, this blog is a decent resource http://woodtrekker.blogspot.com/2011/05/differentiation-between-axes-and.html

That being said, the concept of a pipe tomahawk in particular is unique to the tomahawk family. Historically, they were found only in North America, and were often used as gifts and for trade between the European settlers and Native Americans. Kind of a metaphor for the decisions they faced when meeting, with one side bearing the peace pipe, and the other side ready for war.

Just looking on Wikipedia, where all of life's answers are, I came across the idea that the opposite side of the blade was sometimes a tool. That's where the idea of being a swappable mb/me came from. However, I do like the noun change to tamahaac simply because it seems to be in the same spirit of racial weapons in dragonrealms. The pipe tomahawk would be really cool as well.
