Greetings,
A new version of the STANCE verb has been rolled into TF and pending any disaters, it will be live in all instances shortly.
Key Changes:
- Players can now preset (save) their own stance settings.
- WarMages now gain stance points at an increased rate of 1 per every 15 circles.
- All guilds now gain additional stance points at a rate of 1 per 20 circles.
- Players can now allocate an additional defense point for every 5% attack stance reduction (meaning attack stance at 0% will grant 20 additional points toward defense

I would just like to say THANK YOU oh so much. This is, for me, the best thing ever implimented so far. I'm anxiously awaiting the new cumulative premie point system as well. Well done you guys. Its so lovely to finally have something that makes us feel like we're taking a step forward instead of back. This change is a wonderful step in the right direction.

Are the guilds that already had additional stat points supposed to get an additional one at every 20, or are they staying unchanged? I know it sounds like they should, or that is how it sounded to us at least, but according to who I talked to it hasn't changed for them since I can't log in to check on Brablo atm since running my trader.

Barbarian and Paladin stance points did not change.
We basically up'd WarMages slightly then opened it up to everyone at the old WarMage rate.

As said, many thanks. You might want to have something in the in-games new to cut back on the people who might think there is a bug in getting extra stance points.
I am just glad I came to check the boards before I bugged it, as that explains why I am now getting 2 stance points extra, instead of just one.

Fantastic change! Couple this with the fact that you can chance stance while stunned and my new Custom stance will at least give me a shot when them frisky critters land a critical hit, I hope :) Its shield > parry > evasion while stunned/webbed/imobalized etc, right?

I just wanted to add my praise to the pile. I love being able to use one command and go full defense for things like skinning/looting/etc. Would like to have two customs though, one for full defense towards parry and one for shield.

As an FYI, you know you can change all the "standard" stances, as well as the custom one?
STANCE [ATTACK|EVASION|PARRY|SHIELD|CUSTOM] SAVE
Save your current stance as specified preset.
STANCE SHIELD SAVE -- Save your current stance as shield preset.
This gives you 5 custom stances, really.

Re: Changes to STANCE on 11/05/2005 08:02 PM CST
Yeah, more than 5 stances would be nice, however. For instance, when dancing, I want a stance defensive stance for learning parry, evasion, and shield. For regular attacking I want to set different stances for bow use, blunt weapon use, and edged weapon use. That's 6 already, and doesn't even factor in random stances I'd like to be able to to, such as slighly less shield for eidolon steeds, since they like to break shields.
All in all an awesome change for sure. That doesn't mean we shouldn't give feedback...

Re: Changes to STANCE on 11/05/2005 08:14 PM CST
I've really only found 4 that are useful
100% parry/evasion, 100% shield/evasion, 100% attack rest in parry & evasion, 100% attack rest in evasion & shield. How your defense skills compare would determine which you put skill 100% for the last two, but those are the main useful set ups. If you want to stance evasion down to train parry or shield thats fine, but doesn't require its own saved stance, just enter 'stance parry, stance evasion 50' or something. only two commands.

<<Is this supposed to happen? I haven't tested the various levels but if you lower your attack stance to 0 it effects your ability to overcome a critters magic resistance.>>
This has always been the case with Target Magic spells.
If the spell is offensive (can cause damage/negative effect), the "spell power" is adjusted by your attack stance setting.
There are a couple spells that may have slipped through the cracks and I'll beat them into submission as it crops up.

My guess is some of those spells aren't considered combat spells. I know some of them were left as non-combat and it is the reason why you have to cast <creature> instead of just cast and it hitting the creature you're facing.
I don't remember the reasoning behind them being left as non-combat, but whatever GM was in charge of the spells then said they were left that way for a reason.

Well, the main reason for it is to track what should and shouldn't cause Empathic shock. Any spell that causes damage is considered "offensive."
However, we've evolved beyond that and we're looking to incorporate a much more dynamic justice system as well as different definitions in this regard. Is Halt more or less offensive than Fire Shard? In most cases, if you're halted (immobile) you're dead. It's virtually defenseless. Both sides can be argued effectively.
We've redfined things slightly but you should see no changes in how your spell performs. Though, you may see differnces (in the future) as to how justice handles certain spells.
