I'm looking for damage and minimal lodging, at least until stacks of throwing blades can be forged. Is the bola the only thing that will do this?

Your subject says "best", in which case I would suggest a tyrium bola/bulhawf/throwing club which all use the same template.

>>Ah, so all the no-puncture ones use the same template? That makes things easier. Thanks!
This is actually not true. If you want top damage (in terms of impact damage and suited for attack power), and are willing to give up balance then the best LT template is the Horseshoe, by far.
I sell 15 plat horseshoes in my shop that have Heavy impact, and I have a Great impact LT (Well suited for power) that I was trying to sell for 2k plat but ended up just using it instead of keeping it on my shelves

For those wondering what the heck there's no horseshoe in the weaponsmithing book... try out blacksmithing.
Altho could you argue that the balance on a Tyrium throwing club/bola would actually increase your dps over a horseshoe?
But yep in terms of what has the highest impact and the best single catagory balance/suitedness it is definatly a horseshoe.
I've made weighted HC steel horseshoes and throwing clubs and as a agility heavy character I'm just always drawn toward better balanced weapons.
I'm probably wrong, crazy, and 3.0 will change all of the above. Or not.

Pretty much. I stick with a tyrium bola because of the vastly increased balance. Balance is increasingly important with thrown weapons as there is no combat maneuver to improve your balance with a thrown weapon IMO.

>I'm a little sad that horseshoe is the best.
This is an inaccurate statement.
Horseshoes are the most damaging. Not necessarily the best. It largely depends on the goals of the user.

I am rather fond of the light throwing axe and the hurling axe. I made a couple in orasteel (MCS), and the lodging thing really isn't that big of a deal, seeing as how they're not too heavy, so you can carry a small handful with you.
