Browsing through some old posts I found the following:

*I thought I might share what I got at 90 stones on a Claymore (I call this a Claymattock):

A claymore is a two-handed edged melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
fair puncture damage
bone-crushing slice damage
severe impact damage

You are certain that the claymore is dismally balanced and is excellently suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the claymore is well constructed, and is in pristine condition.**

Anyone make these anymore? I wouldn't mind testing one out if so.

But there's a tree, of many, one,
A single field which I have look'd upon,
Both of them speak of something that is gone:
The pansy at my feet
Doth the same tale repeat:
Wither is fled the visionary gleam?
Where is it now, the glory and the dream?

Wow, yes. Name, price and where I can pick one up, please. Pity it's not a greatsword, though.

If they are still possible to make, I can make them. Give me a yell if you want me to try. (magdardr) I need to be in the forge to make a damite short sword anyway and can add these while I am doing the 2 hours of mixing required for the short sword.

Could someone explain how that would work when performing a chop..would it just default to the slice damage, contest both and go with what is greater, average the two or what?

Chop has both a slice and an impact component to the damage it deals. It would bring both into account. I believe chop favors the impact rating in the damage weighting, but slice is definitely a healthy part of it, too.

4 ts mix mix 04 13 28 090
1.5 dust mix mix

(this mix fixes the weight discrepency due to compression)

All blades used the 98 stone ingots.

This is a finished steel blade for a claymore, and the steel itself is hard, somewhat flexible, and somewhat heavy.

If the steel blade was finished right now, it appears as if it could do:
fair puncture damage
bone-crushing slice damage
great impact damage

The blade would be dismally balanced and excellently suited for gaining extra attack power from your strength.

Fully Ground Edge (around 4 times did it fail on grind edge)

So i was a bit off on the mix I didn't account for a one slug compression.

But that's basically it.

Even though RT isn't a huge issue, stamina is and wielding these weapons would seem to sap a bit of fatigue.

Basically I still think the lower weight basties end up being a lot better than claymores.

I didn't preview and the numbers didn't make any sense so i'll give context to it. This is just my own numbering system that allows me to mix and match mixes. Plus i didn't use a table. All things which are fixed.

Forgive someone who isn't familiar at all with the forging system. Would you mind translating that for me?

A little late, but these are what I forge and use. I did a lot of testing and playing around with 2HE last month. It's about as good as it gets with regular metals as far as I can tell.

A claymore is a two-handed edged melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
fair puncture damage
bone-crushing slice damage
severe impact damage

You are certain that the claymore is dismally balanced and is excellently suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the claymore is well constructed, and is in pristine condition.

The claymore is made with metal.
You are certain that the claymore weighs exactly 94 stones.
You are certain that the claymore is worth exactly 875 kronars.
Roundtime: 5 seconds.

A greatsword is a two-handed edged pole-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
low puncture damage
severe slice damage
great impact damage

You are certain that the greatsword is dismally balanced and is well suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the greatsword is well constructed, and is in pristine condition.

The greatsword is made with metal.
You are certain that the greatsword weighs exactly 97 stones.
You are certain that the greatsword is worth exactly 2500 kronars.
Roundtime: 5 seconds.

Going by memory, I believe the stats on my greatsword (Drevid-forged IIRC) are:

<irrelevant> puncture damage
bone-crushing slice damage
heavy impact damage

poorly balanced, well suited, very strong construction and 104 stones.

I'm not 100% sure though and would have to fish it out of the vault to check. Using lighter weapons right now because of the lower RT.

I'd be interested in seeing if that is possible. All the mixes I used for swords that heavy weren't really grindable.

I do three flavors of greatswords.

60 stone greatsword - (l,bc,f,p,r very strong) 13 edge
80 stone greatsword - (l,bc,m,p,r very strong) 10 edge
102 stone greatsword - (l,bc,h,p,w very strong) 7 edge

The # edge is how many grinds it takes me

Congrats!

Going by that formula, I'm at 117. That's what I get for having no mech or le/me skill.

Blade Forge Factor

Light Edge: 272.3
Medium Edge: 257.8
Heavy Edge: 293.3
TwoHanded Edge: 299.8

Working on it. The sad part is my mech lore is higher than my edged weapons.

As a moon mage, how well could I expect to forge? When can non-barbarians start grinding?

Also, what's the formula for halberd/pike? Similar to the armor formulas?

You have the ability to cap any piece of armor known, except for the lightest half-plate/field plate. Your mixing will need some work to get the best results, but you have the appropriate forging factors.
