I have been on Aesry in first tier snow goblins for the past few circles and they are just incredible. I'm learning great. However, the big downside is that I don't have a guild there and I hate having to catch the Lybadel.

My defenses are 130-140, weapons 120-130. Barbarian. Are there any good alternatives on the mainland?

Also, is it true that enemies who have shields or who parry will teach weapons better because of having to contest multiple defenses? I had always heard that from people. Snow goblins definitely seem to teach me weapons much better than four-legged natural critters of similar ranks, such as young red brocket deer, which trained my weapons at a painfully slow rate even 10 ranks ago.

Do you care what kind of critter it is? Boxes? Skins? Etc?

While I sometimes feel the results this puts out aren't as accurate as they could be, you might want to try epedia's bestiary.

It depends, IMO. I do think they can teach better, but that's because they're harder to kill/take more time to kill.

If the stream of mobs doesn't really let up, I feel like I do better hunting mobs that don't block/parry. But, if the mobs don't come at a steady stream, I'd probably do better hunting something that doesn't die as quickly. That's in my experience, at least.

Thanks. My only caveat is that I prefer creatures that are skinnable. I don't care about boxes. Just something that would teach me as well as snow goblins have been.

Might be able to squeeze a few ranks out of Silver Leucros on Ratha (?) before swapping over to Black Lecuros in Zoluren.

The issue is many people added those numbers when they were backtraining, which doesn't take into account the higher stats, better buffs, and no need for defense.

That's why I don't trust the numbers. Or at least the low ends. When something isn't/stops teaching is more definite.

While true. they probably won't like it. Silver leucro are comparable, though just a (tiny) hair easier than the young deer they already said were painfully slow. I also agree that stepping up to the 2nd tier Red Brocket Deer might be an option worth looking into.

Depending on which tier of Snowblins you're using, I would have to second the Brocket deer. When or if you want boxes, you can swing by marauders..

Good luck!
