I've been reluctant to ask and try to find something myself, but the upper end of skills for creatures on Elanthipedia is... lacking.
So, I'd like to stay near Crossing, but Theren would be a second preference. I don't absolutely oppose island travel, but it wouldn't be my favorite thing.
I prefer something not undead and skinnable. I would also like to work my stealths on it.
With that said, here is my relevant information.

^This is your best bet near Crossing. Your best fit in Therenborough would be the small peccs/swamp trolls of Lang- but mind the fendryads. However, with your shield, the fendryads might not be as hard on you as they were on me when I played there.

<<Black Leucros/Deadfall
I think I'm going to end up here, I tried them earlier, they seemed slightly above my range.
<<Before the temple westies/atik'ets
I went here for a few hours, they don't seem to move evasion at all (read: no more than vipers) Experience seems less than wonderful.
-
Probably will go play with Black Leucros some more. I'm hesitant to try the Fens, don't you fall off the hummocks and into the elsrael there? Is that a concern? I could certainly do with learning a bit more swimming and climbing back and forth to Crossing.
Thank you all for your help.

The hummocks aren't a problem until you go deep into the fens. That still leaves quite a large area, and even then it's possible to hunt there without falling. If you are moving normally, you're on solid ground. If you have to jump while moving, it's time to back-track just a bit.
Good luck!

With enough agility you can jump from hummock to hummock all day long. (little island to little island). When it gets tricky is when your weighed down by boxes. Than no matter how much agility you have, you will fall in. But its easy to get out.
And at those ranks, I was actually hunting red leucro's. Granted it was with buffs (thief avoidance, hasten).
I'd say with buffs, you could hunt them yourself. Granted they stop teaching around 250 soft cap, and stop teaching at exactly 263 for the hard cap. Least that I have noticed.

Black leucros will take your defenses to 250 if you really stretch it, and weapons to 210 or so before it gets really painful. I'd suggest the peccs/swampies.
