Evasion: 192
Multi: 134
Parry: 156
Leather: 169
Weapon: 192
Any suggestions? My multi needs work. I do need to get a few ranks in my secondary weapon which is way behind at 96 as well.
Thanks.

I was able to get more ranks of multi out of the crows on Aesry and the swains on Ratha- but I had to use a secondary weapon, and just switch out my primary if I got beat on too much.

Trust me. I was in that exact same situation, with almost the exact same stats and skills. Nipoh Oshu on Aesry. First tier will teach into the 220ish range for defenses, perhaps a bit more. And even with your low multi, it's a non-issue. They don't hurt that much when they hit. Just watch the steam attack.
Go to aesry. Hunt oshu. Train Shield by setting stance to 1% and just standing there locking it. Trust me.

Regardless of new combat or otherwise, I imagine there will still be critters that shield is more effective against, like spitting vipers, and ranged using critters. Train it.

Same could be said for those that are hard training shield and not anything else. Multi critters I could see using/needing a shield if they are all ranged, but one? Evasion I would think would be the better offset. Same with weapon using critters, in a multi situation at melee, You'd be better off parrying than using a shield, since a shield is more hindering in that situation, you'll never get a swing off, you'd be to busy blocking 2-4 at a time. You'd be to busy hiding behind that shield and concentrating on not being hit. So parry would be the better way to go since you can keep sight of everyone in melee range, and swing with the weapon your parrying with in time with each parry. Which I would believe is where the weapon combo's should fall into play with.
But thats me.

I'm not sure what Jim's on about, but Pendus has it right there. You can train every defense at the same time.
Shield will never stop being a major piece of the defensive puzzle. All the defenses need adjusting on where/when/how effective against multiple opponents they are, but all that will do is make it more imperative that you train shield to cover those situations in which it would be your best defense.

Exactly. Train all 3. Some people elect NOT to train shield which is silly. Regardless of where shield falls in your skillsets, (primary, secondary, or tertiary) it's extremely easy to train all 3 defenses at the same level at the same time. If one defense is good, then 3 is better. Always.

>>DR will still be a multiple defense game. One defense alone won't cut it. Parry won't be as good against ranged so shield and evasion will still be better.
yes, but at the same time, telling everyone that shield is the only way to go, is incorrect once the rewrite goes into effect. At the moment, I will agree, shield is king. But not for long.

Actually in a lot of situations it feels like Shield > Evasion, but that's only because Evasion takes a lot of the heat off from attacks before it even gets to Shield. Without Evasion, Shield would be no good.
I'm gonna have to agree with Hiding > Evasion > Shield > Parry currently.
