I seem to be without a critter...Barb with no hiding boost (don't have panther yet)
Shield Usage: 150 77% nearly locked (33/34) Leather Armor: 146 74% nearly locked (33/34)
Heavy Chain: 124 53% nearly locked (33/34)
Parry Ability: 142 81% dabbling (1/34) Multi Opponent: 163 05% enthralled (32/34)
Heavy Edged: 124 96% dabbling (1/34)
Offhand Weapon: 123 93% perusing (2/34)
Evasion: 150 25% mind lock (34/34)
Hiding: 150 22% very riveted
Can't hide on Viper's. Red Brocket Deer? (I went with 140's in defenses and got swarmed under) Don't really want to do Snobs (but they may be the best choice?
Oh, and yeah, I have a ranged (it's about the same as HE)
Need skinning and hiding...

He won't be able to hide on those without a booster. Brocket deer is what I would suggest for stealths since they are pretty blind. I'm not very familiar with Barb abilities, but wouldn't berserk stone help you from going under until you get a little more defenses.
In the same area, small peccs might be decent for you. If all else fails, you'll have to take off your armor to train until you get a hiding booster.
