Anyone know of a swarmy DP zealot area? I've reached a really slow point where little celps barely keep my weapons going and most bigger things I've attempted are too tough to hit/damage (buffed) and/or can get past my overtrained defenses too easily to be viable. I'm learning a little by running around one-shotting celps, but something tougher would be good.
Taking stock of its offensive abilities, and defending with a bastard sword and wearing a spiked iron buckler, you are certain that the Dragon Priest zealot is definitely less skilled.

Can't kill me but actually trains weapons - I like it. If there are other alternatives I've missed I could use a nudge in the right direction - already tried apes, wraiths, fleshreapers/other undead, and super celps so far with no success. Trying to avoid malchata since I hear the spawn sucks and they have broken mechanics.
Training six weapons at just shy of 500 ranks, so I need lots of critters.

Polo's on Hara, hehehe, wonky mechanics too there though, but if I remeber right you wanna avoid the islands, and thats the most desertec of em all
If ya do go*point all*even though ya see em through thier RF,sometimes ya cant swing at em til ya point at em,and sometime ya can,...nevermind aint worth it

I saw them and thought they looked good until someone pointed out they have buggy mechanics, including one that will lose ranged ammo.
Anything that eats my good crossbow ammo in any way is out of the question - I'll stick to celps over that.

When I last visited Hib apes could parry my melee weapons easily and still managed to get through my defenses, but they seemed to be the closest match I found. The spawn didn't appear to be an issue when I was there.
I was thinking of giving them a second try at 500 weapon ranks (~20 more than my previous attempt).
I can kill super celps with relative ease, but unfortunately they're just a little too good at killing me back right now. Haven't tried juvies but I was told they're a little tougher than celps offensively so would probably be even more problematic (especially with open rolls) - is that the case?

Yeah, the issue isn't that they don't teach - I can still reach mindlock in my weapons if I hunt them long enough (literally all day without breaks, at this point). It probably wasn't as noticeable before recent changes, but now we have 3x larger pools draining at a faster rate and weapon experience based off challenge rather than damage.
This leaves gaps in the higher tiers of the critter ladder - previously one could move comfortably through celpeze with challenge decreasing but damage increasing, so experience either remained the same or went up. Now it seems to decrease a bit.
I'm just hoping there's something that will teach a bit better without killing me. It's definitely time to add more variety to post-gryphon hunting.

<<Yeah I was learning very well in celps at those ranks. The new experience should make it even easier at those ranks.>>
Not sure about that - they appraise as very easy opponents IIRC, which means little challenge and therefore less learning under the new weapon experience model (which teaches primarily based on challenge). I'm not complaining that it's unworkable, just trying to see if there's anything better out there.
<<Don't mean to derail your thread, but could I ask how long it took you to get here? Any regrets on the HX?>>
One year at the end of the month. I regret training HX instead of LX, but now that I have it this far I might as well keep training it. My biggest regrets though are not training any ranged weapons at the start (paid for that with a month or so of backtraining early on) and not training stealths or skinning (paying for that with backtraining now).

I am. The new weapon experience isn't based entirely on challenge. If it was, I wouldn't learn well in juvies.
Taking stock of its defensive abilities, and attacking with a bastard sword, you are certain that the desert armadillo is well beneath your abilities.
[Roundtime: 5 seconds]
If it was based even primarily off challenge, I'd not be learning squat in here. As is, I'm locking four weapons pretty easily in an area that is "well beneath" me. The only thing I don't learn is multi. That's with my primary weapon in the 770s. I'm just shy of 600 appraisal so I'd be willing to bet my appraisal is correct. :P

Offhand and HE are the easy skills for exactly that reason - I don't even have a Heavy Edged section of my script anymore, it keeps up just from DRAW LEFT/SLICE/CHOP LEFT/WHIRLWIND with two basties.
I was REALLY happy the day I found out I could use that in celps without dying, heh.
Then it hits the HT/HX sections and we see a major slowdown.

>>Out of curiousity, how is your balance when you Whirl following Chop? I use it in between Slice and Chop and I pretty much have to dance Wolverine or I get pretty unbalanced.
I usually do it after a feint, feint sweep, or chop.
I always Whirl when I'm incredibly balanced. Allows me to Whirl 2 times and never go below solidly/nimbly balanced when I continue on with the regular combo. If I Whirl a 3rd time, it'll get me really unbalanced. I usually try not to do it 3 times in a row for fear of getting open rolled with Whirl as my last combat maneuver.
Individuals, families, countries, continents are destroyed at the heavy hand of Vinjince.

<<Out of curiousity, how is your balance when you Whirl following Chop?>>
You feel slightly restricted in your armor.
Muscles taut, you crouch forward as you focus on the unpredictable Cobra, coiled and ready to strike.
Roundtime: 5 seconds.
With fluid and stealthy movements you draw a bastard sword from the nightsilk back harness concealed beneath your war plate.
With fluid and stealthy movements you draw a bastard sword from the nightsilk back harness concealed beneath your war plate.
You assess your combat situation...
You (solidly balanced) are facing an asaren celpeze (3) at melee range.
An asaren celpeze (1: solidly balanced) is behind you at melee range.
An asaren celpeze (2: solidly balanced) is flanking you at melee range.
An asaren celpeze (3: solidly balanced) is facing you at melee range.
An asaren celpeze (4: nimbly balanced) is behind you at melee range.
< You step backward and then slice at an asaren celpeze. An asaren celpeze fails to evade. The sword lands a powerful strike (10/22) that tears flesh and cartilage as the right leg is ripped clean below the knee (Better order that peg leg!).
[You're nimbly balanced with opponent in good position.]
[Roundtime 2 sec.]
< You slice a bastard sword at an asaren celpeze. An asaren celpeze attempts to evade. The sword lands an extremely heavy hit (9/22) that severs the celpeze's left hand and sends it flying through the air, stunning it.
[You're solidly balanced and in dominating position.]
[Roundtime 3 sec.]
< You chop a bastard sword at an asaren celpeze. An asaren celpeze attempts to dodge. The sword lands an awesome strike (12/22) that explodes the heart and lungs with a bone-shattering blow to the chest.
The asaren celpeze slumps and goes limp. Its tail twitches once or twice, and the light fades from its baleful eyes.
[You're nimbly balanced]
[Roundtime 3 sec.]
Tensing your body and reaching deep within yourself, you feel the fire build until you are almost ablaze with energy. It courses into your arms and legs as you begin to spin until you are a blur of whirling destruction.
Your bastard sword lands a heavy strike to an asaren celpeze's left hand!
The asaren celpeze is lightly stunned!

The asaren celpeze is lightly stunned!
Your bastard sword lands a vicious strike to an asaren celpeze's chest!
The asaren celpeze thrashes about for a moment, then lies still.
Your bastard sword lands an extremely heavy hit to an asaren celpeze's right arm!
The asaren celpeze is barely stunned!
