Hi there folks in GM Land:
Some of the best times playing the game were when the Seerah was running and there were random pirate ships of doom attacking. I don't know if this is possible to try and re-intigrate into the game or not, but it would be grand to be able to reclaim some of this type of battle.
I remember taking rides with groups on this.. and these pirates (for my then character who wasn't little) were massive and amazing. Raining bolts down from the safety of the deck, getting brave and going down on the decks and getting smashed around. Swinging out on the rigging and killing a few and running back for healing.
The other thing was.. they were tough.. maybe they flexed.. I can't remember that part, but they were great fun to hunt.
So, in an effort to get some more exciting things to hunt from a northerly standpoint ... and maybe it would breathe a little life into both Ratha and Haven's communities.. the Pirate fighters Arrrgh!
Any chance there's a possibility of something like this returning to the game.. with pirates maybe on different skill levels.. from say, orc reiver -- to orc savage range?
Thanks in advance.
Z

>Ohh weird. I've been on several times and haven't seen them.
And you're sure you've been standing on the main deck or foredeck area? They will not spawn on the pilot's deck or the Captain's cabin area.
A Moon Mage bars your way, whispering "I am afraid you are not on the list I have Kasto. Maybe some other time?"

Yes I realize that the pirates that are on the Kree'la are still there. Our Order just did a small group hunt on them. They're a paltry comparison to the pirates that I'm remembering.
What I'm referring to are the Seerah trips. You'd take the boat, it was often times late.. because.. it often times ran into a Pirate ship that attacked it and we'd load and fire the mangonel (chains, oil and stones I think) and Fire! The pirates themselves were pretty hard creatures (for the day) and I think at one time they may have "flexed", but it was great fun fighting along side some of the great oldtime fighters. When the rigging and the ship sails got tattered, you'd have to fix them to help get the boat to move faster. It really made the trip going out to the islands an "adventure".. you'd see nothing.. and then there'd be the red sail in the distance.. and then gauging how long you had to get things loaded up and ready for the fight.. because oy! they're going to board the boat..
Anyway.. I was just hoping that they might consider bringing back a "new" Seerah type boat with the pirate ship that attacked frequently (ideally) or they'd make the kree'la pirates a LOT more difficult. There are a lot of creatures in the sub 200 range.. and these weren't even teaching a guy who hunts haven swamp trolls. Just some thoughts.

Agreed, the boarding parties were lots of fun. Getting stuck in 25 second RT trying to load the mangonel because my strength sucked and then getting pummeled was fun. But I'm a glutton for punishment.
I think the pirates that show up on the Kree'la now are the same level (150-200ish?) as back in the day. It's just that back then Adan'f were essentially 'endgame' critters, so pirates seemed huge to everyone.

Back then pirates were flex critters. It was quite the experience to log back in after splattering them and realizing, to your dismay, that someone near cap had boarded at some point!

>>Or someone of high combat capabilities was hiding on the ship and you weren't aware until that first pirate beat you like a carpet. Yay flex!
I thought creature flex had been basically removed from non-quest instances.

Given that we're talking about a mob that hasn't been in game for almost a decade, I don't see any conflict between those statements.

I too miss those days. At one point you could shoot arrows from deck to deck, that was some good fun.
