We've seen there are quite a few varieties of trolls: swamp, rock, wood, cave, and scavenger, plus two possible relatives, the trollkin and floratrolls.

So that begs the question, are they related, or is "troll" just a word for any ugly man-like creature that isn't a goblin, ogre, etc.? Basically, is troll a technical term with meaning, or just a handy label slapped on anything that looks troll-ish?

For example, you'd expect anything called a gryphon to have similar biology, behavior, and origins, even if only broadly so. Can the same be said of trolls?

Second, many of these seem to have either an affinity for stone (rock, cave) or for plants (wood, swamp, scavenger, floratroll). Does this imply a division of troll-ness or is it just coincidence? Do some, for some reason, have a tie in to life mana, while others tap elemental? Does this mean that somewhere out there there might be fire, air, or water trolls?

Just some musings.

It's always the cute cuddly things, like dolphins, cats, and gryphons that get all of the scientific attention. Who in their right mind would go out and study let alone classify trolls!?

Not sure about the others, but all full trolls are immune to mundane stuns. So they have that going for them, at least.
