It would be really great if we had some critter that made decent arrowheads comparable to basilisk, which didn't require a good long trip far away. Perhaps somewhere in Ilithi or Forfedhar please?

Just to be helpful. Elsrael teeth from around Shard make quite a decent arrowhead. It's not capped but it's close.
Personally I like the current system. Basilisks are in one place and are the one creature that is the source for "capped" things. But there are some other, more accessible creatures out there that makes much better than store bought.

Adder makes better pretty sure. I'll have to check my notes at home, but think it's something like Basilisk > Hele > Adder > Sabretooth > Elsrael > Boar. Can't think of any other off the top of my head.

put angiswaerd (the large ones in Throne) inbetween els and boars. Where are Adders ifn i might ask?

I was curious, so ran around and collected all the ones mentioned. Didn't think to try heggarangi boars, so someone is grabbing me a couple. All are perfect arranged, combined stick bow is >900, so likely all capped.
Boar tusk - F/L/L
Elsrael tooth - M/L/F
Adder fang - M/L/F
Sabretooth tooth - M/L/F
Angiswaerd tooth - M/L/F
Compared all the M/L/F arrows to one another, come out exactly the same on all damages, construction, and weight.
