I don't guess I have a problem with that beyond that I've always done it that way, I didn't actually realize there was a thread setup now on the forums, and that it'd probably be easier to ignore a single thread from me than a new, easy to click on to vote thread on a daily basis. Shrug. That being said...

It's not that it's easier to ignore... we just end up with this when looking at the threads: http://tinypic.com/r/15eburm/8 The folder would essentially just become a whole bunch of single post threads with exactly the same thing in them.
Starting a new thread each month isn't bad, but a new thread with a single post daily is a bit much.

That part I'm aware of. Numbers don't lie, this is more effective(we've averaged 40 clicks a day since I started this up again). Abs just gave me the suggestion to thread it so you should be able to ignore this whole thing with a single click if it makes you unhappy, so I'm not going to stress it.

AFAIK, it's more that if you're looking through the archives in threaded view you will see one collapsed thread vs multiple.

Clickthrough incentives which don't 'technically' violate the rules has always been my explanation. There's simply no other way to explain it in the real world. They start the month at a level higher than most people even reach.

The company who owns Aardwolf (Lasher) owns and operates the Topmudsites URL.

Considering we've never broken #2 I think it's sour grapes to decide #1 is cheating.
We're not #1 because we have a small population of voters compared to our player base. Case closed. They had years of getting people trained to vote daily.

Considering they own the website and have a very vested interest in pushing their own product, calling it 'sour grapes' to point out these things is deliberately misleading at best.
When Exon advertises that it has the best gas in the world as decided by a panel of judges, it's somewhat important to know if all of those judges were Exon employees.

Who cares? For a couple clicks a day we potentially get the attention of players looking for a new mud to try. Complaining about it on the DR forums isn't going to inluence who owns a 3rd party website or help us climb the ladder.

I feel it's pretty obvious that the line of thought is "it's obvious that we're not #1 because ::insert reasons of assumed cheating::"
My counterpoint to the assumption/accusation is that it comes off as sour grapes given the lack of proof beyond deciding that since they run it, they're cheating. Beyond that, it's a bit silly to be annoyed over not being #1 when we can't even beat the assumed "legitimate" competition, as well.

The revelation that Aardwolf owns Top Mud Sites has definitely dampened my enthusiasm for voting. Even if there is no proof that Aardwolf is cheating, at the very least, there is a conflict of interest between running an independent ranking site and wanting to promote your own game.
