Just trying to make a list here, please tell me if my categories are great or stupid and any I carelessly left off.
Weapons
Armors (perhaps combined with the previous category)
Geography
Events (Historical and Recent)
Skills (including career skills, once available)
I think cards are a great way to make your own quick-reference book (for example, Paladin makes one that has shields, Thereborough, heavy plate, heavy edge, Chadatru, and forging in it). Just please give us another form of carrying case, like a book or journal.

If you're going to make cards for people like Ranik, then you definitely need to make cards for people like Salius. For those of you who do not know, Salius was the first (that I'm aware of) to produce high quality maps for most of Elanthia. This ended, of course, when he stopped playing.

You know, I was thinking about the same thing. Salius, Shapeshifter, and I can think of a few other outstanding names that are no longer with us.

Re: Proposed Card Categories on 10/08/2003 11:00 AM CDT
I think this while idea is really great. I'd propose they be added to the "Famous Faces" category, and that it be voted on like the Hall of Fame. Solicit nominations on these boards, a GM Panel pulls together a list of 10-20 names from those nominated, then runs a poll on the web site. The top five or whatever get cards made for them. Each year we have a new "class" inducted into the DR Hall of Fame.
I love the cards, mostly because they're teaching me about Elanthia in an IG, IC way. We as adventurers are just as much a part of the history of the world as Guild Leaders, it makes total sense that the best of us would be so remembered. It'd be a great way for newer players to connect with the old-timers, and would give the old-times another reason to stick around and try to make an impact.

I like the idea. It reminds me of High School. We could all promote ourselves and form committees. Have sit ins where we think of catchy slogans and make buttons to give away; Vote for Joe.
Maybe buy some votes, eh...free set of forged gloves with each vote for Joe.
I would just pay a plat per vote myself, since I can't forge anything. Definitely target the crowd around Crossing and primarily younger circles who need the money. You know, similiar to busing in the elderly to vote for you. Heck, why bother running for office at all...forget that.
You can hire me to run your political campaign. There you go. I'll be a top dollar donator, because I expect a kickback when you get in office, I mean, get a card. We can flesh out the details at the meeting.
Bring on the votes. Let the campaigning begin!
ZNC Chairman Gidske (Zoluren National Commitee)
Yak the Vote! I might even hire some bards to create a medieval video for your's truly!

<hugs ye olde Zepath maps>
I kinda like my old Zepath maps, shows me what the world was like when I started playing so many years ago.

Ah, I can't believe I forgot the players who are no longer around.
Shapeshifter, Salius, and Sablina definitely made their marks. Also, Rock?
But this wasn't the intent of this actual thread. (Gotta stop replying to whatever the last post is, people.) THIS thread was about categories for new sets of cards, not just a famous PC category. Any comments on that?

We need a locations category. Would be a fun one for an expansion and give more cards to release when P5 opens up.
My question though is if they add cards do they create a new set or would they be part of the current set? Seems like it might be an issue.
Another fun one would be a creature category and maybe even a constellation category.

We're discussing which way (if any) to go with this. I'd like to add new cards and make the sets bigger...I'm not sure it's possible though. It prolly won't happen any time soon, since Jeremael has uhm...stuff...he's working on.
Constellations is one I should have thought of! ::adds that to the list::

Okay, amended suggested future card categories:
Weapons
Armors (perhaps combined with the previous category)
Geography
Events (Historical and Recent)
Skills (including career skills, once available)
Creatures
Constellations (Solomon liked this one, a good sign)
Questions, comments, snide remarks...?

Good ideas, I like that list. Everything I can think of is on there, except maybe "Races". Though I guess those could go under "Creatures".

What about the graverobber category? Okay maybe not. But maybe some sort of bad guy category. That creature one nice idea. Possibly could even split it down somehow based on difficulty which would help with people figuring out where they can hunt too.

Re: Proposed Card Categories on 10/09/2003 09:05 AM CDT
maybe you could have a graverobber category in TF, where such individuals can be hunted down and walked.
however, not in prime, where anyone can role up a newbie graverobber and then pass along the items and sell 'em for RL $ on yahoo.
~Weak of arm, lousy roars;
terrible aim, awful health;
broken fingers, no real stealth;
leave em dead, cause you cant do more; lost your coins, on the floor;
greetings! now you're out the door~

<cackle>That made me think of a category that I'd like to see that will probably never be on the list...Most Wanted Characters ...IE people who are notorious thieves, murderers, been on the Wanted Boards for the longest time.
<laughs>Hell, I'd probably pay to see a card of a two-sided Schvartz card...one side as a man, the other side as a woman.

It would be cool to have wanted posters. After certain noteriety you get approached by guards saying Alright its time to take you in.
<TYPE RUN ACCEPT> To run away from the guards otherwise wait or type <Surrender Accept>
Running away prolongs sentence and makes you a fugitive, able to be hunted by all

Re: Proposed Card Categories on 10/10/2003 09:10 PM CDT
Events! I would love to see events added. The Famous Faces cards make references to the Elf/Human war, the Seven Star Empire, Teiro, Lanival, etc, but the events these people are famous for are left obscure with no relevance to the culture and setting of the realms. I collect the cards not as a way to make money, but rather, because they're like flashcards for Elanthia. I'd also agree with seeing different containers for them than the generic box case. A scrapbook like thing with pages to turn would be real cool. The cards provide plenty of oppurtunitiy for players, new and old alike, to carry a portable history of the Realms with them, which can only enrich the RP environment, no?
