I take it you're experimenting with Avatars? Every other post I see has a picture of a gorilla next to it. Even my own. Before that it was a blank that said "No Avatar".

Looks like when I started this feature weeks ago, I figured a default value of 1 would be good. Then when I got back to it later, I thought a default value of 0 would be just dandy. Then of course, today I realize what I did. :) So some posts made today will have the Arbelog image (about 1000 or so lucky people, if they happened to post in the last few hours).

Current plan is choose from a list we provide (several hundred choices). Naturally, the future is mutable.
