Hello! Over the past few days, i've been seriously considering trying out Platinum. I was actually about to sign up for it, when I decided to hop on the forums first. I noticed some posts about a "Free Trial" ? If anyone can give me some more information this, i'd really appreciate it.
I've been playing Prime on and off since about '98. But nowdays I simply yearn for for the chance at a good roleplay experience.. which is why I want to try Plat. I am fairly skilled roleplayer, and I really have fun with it all.
Also, I was wondering what Professions are currently lacking in Plat. Are there any Traders? Do you need more Clerics? Is there an overabundaunce of anything? Any info. I could get on this would really help too.
Whether I get a "sponsor" or not, (i'm not really sure how that all works), you'll most likely see me in Plat very very soon!

If you are looking for RP and lots of GMPC interaction Plat has been really hopping. It seems like we have an event every week or so. Its not always this busy, but lately it seems like a lot has been going on.
As far as guilds...I agree with the other person...play what you find fun. While you can definitely find plenty of interaction if you look for it, there will always be a lot of "alone time" simply because the population is so much smaller. For this reason its better to play a guild you will find fun.
As far as what guilds seem most common...I dunno...off the top of my head last night we had three thieves (I think), one warrior mage, one paladin, one empath, and one moon mage (in addition to the three GMPCs and various invading critters). We sometimes seem to be lacking in clerics to bless weapons, but there are a couple that play semi-regularly. I know of other warrior mages that are on fairly regularly as well as other moon mages, traders, etc...I can't really say we are lacking for basic guild membership.
One thing that is lacking is weapon and armor forgers. We don't have a lot of high level characters it seems. In last nights event for instance, the three thieves were probably the top fighters there, and there was a high level empath. There have occasionally been high level forgers occasionally but none that I know of that currently play on a regular basis.
Still, most people make due with relatively mundane stuff. I use mundane store bought armor (usually pick up some leather lying around for events) and weapons (Nisha shot bow from El Bains stop), and I've never had too much trouble getting by. Getting alterations or fest/auction equipment seems pretty easy overall, so even though folks don't have super powered weapons and armor, most people do have a unique look.
The task system will help you out if you want to set yourself up independantly, but most Plat players would be more than happy to help out a new adventurer getting started. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you run into someone. We have the "chat" system too, so its always possible to contact people no matter how far away. We also have "jump jewelry" so if they right moons are up, travelling across Elanthia isn't too bad either.

Could anyone take a guess at the average circle/skill levels in plat. I'm thinking of giving it another go. Are there many players/GMs/events on outside the US prime time?
If I joined now after doing the 3 month trial (ended for me a couple of months ago) will I keep the LTBs from before and be able to buy a house in prime straight away or do I have to wait another 3 months?
