Hiho!
I'm newbie and I wonder, how guys you manage put so much stuff at F1-F12 keys ;D I've read in wiki that some classes have like 60+ spells, so you have to have a lot of hotkeys! Even with ctrl+ and alt+ combos.. :)
Lets share out hotkeys in this topic :D Not everything, but the general principles.
My newbie set for now:
F1 attack
F2 Force Arrow
F3 cast (if FA macro would glitch)
F4 smite (paladin ultra skill - chop)
F5 - (donno what to put there yet)
F6 - buff spell
F7 - buff spell
F8 - buff spell
F9 - skin
F12 - retreat
Thats it for now :D

You can create your own hotkeys using the whole keyboard. In Stormfront, in the upper right corner under options-macros you can open a window to create new hotkeys. There's button at the bottom left of the macro interface called "create" you can use to assign keys or combinations of keys to a new macro.
Typically people use alt and/or ctrl in conjunction with letter or number keys to create their macros. You can also assign individual keys to be instant macros without using a secondary modifier key.
For example, you can use ctrl-r as "retreat\r", and ctrl-e as "engage\r". Adding "\r" at the end of a macro stands for the "enter/return" key. You can string those together to enter multiple commands at once. For example, you could use ctrl-c for "get coin\rgetcoin\rgetcoin\r" or ctrl-q for "stow arrow\rstow arrow\rstow arrow\r". These are just example, and you can assign any commands to any combination of keys that makes sense to you.

Welcome Tangar!
I think the other poster did a good job of explaining, so I won't add much. I'll just say that when I was at your level, I mostly used CTRL and ALT with letters myself. ALT-A for attack, ALT-R for retreat, etc. That made it easier to remember.
Some other good commands to consider:
Face next -- Faces the next creature, good for if you find yourself without something.
Flee -- If you flee in a direction it will try to take you there after a long pause, or you can just FLEE by itself to get to missile range.
Analyze -- It's good to hit this one over and over until you're up to massive bonus.
Circle -- Good for regaining balance if you can't retreat.
Arrange -- Will increase the difficulty of skinning a corpse but give more exp and a little more value if you manage to skin. Can do up to 5 times.
Loot treasure -- Don't use LOOT by itself unless you want boxes.

Guys, thanks for advice! But the idea of this topic - to share your keyset - which macro for which actions do you have. It's pretty fun to look into other players keybindings and share your own macro setup :D

As one of the few people left that actually use Stormfront, here's the few that I have:
PVE: Macro Set 0
F1 - \xprep %debilSpell %debilBase\r (uses my global variables so I dont have to fix the macro each time, cause I'm lazy)
F4 - \x.combatLoop ambush ranged\r (feeds my combat script my quick stealth and ranged weapon sets to lock over a short timespan)
F6 - \x.combatLoop all\r (starts my everything loops forever script so that I can sit around and laugh at all the terribad gweth messages and discord arguements)
PVP: Macro Set 1
F1 - \xprep %debilSpell %debilCap\r (for the initial debuff, hopefully it lands cause otherwise the rest of the macros are pointless)
F3 - \xget axe\r \xhurl %pvpTarget\r (chuck the initial LT, hope it lands)
F4 - \xget pilum\r \xhurl %pvpTarget\r (throw the HT again hoping it lands)
F5 - \xget branch\r \adv %pvpTarget\r \xhide\r (Hopefully I have time to get to melee for some stabbity before the debuff is dropped)
F6 - \xtarget %boltSpell %boltBase at %pvpTarget\r (cause I'm too lazy to type)
Enjoy.

I'm afraid I don't use many macros any more! After a while I graduated to using scripts. I do still have a few, but they are almost all for Bard abilities, especially for things that I need in "panic mode". The \n is because I use Avalon, a different front end from StormFront. Here are all the important ones that I still might use from time to time:
ALT-A -- attack\n
ALT-C -- stance custom\n -- Gets me into my custom stance, which is entirely defensive (something like 0% offense, 100% parry, 100% evasion)
ALT-D -- scream defiance\n -- Bard ability that breaks me out of a stun
ALT-F -- flee $gfleedirection$\n -- Makes me flee in the direction I've specified in my global variable
ALT-H -- get my warhorn\nexhale warhorn warn\nstow my warhorn\n -- Bard ability that keeps creatures from spawning for a short time
ALT-M -- maneuver twirl\n -- maneuver for Staves users, like a special attack
ALT-O -- clench my orb\n -- activates a magic item that stuns creatures near me
ALT-W -- whistle piercing\n -- Bard ability that stops all creatures from moving for a short time
ALT-Z -- face next\nengage\ntarget\n
When used together in the right order, I have a pretty good chance of getting out of a bad situation. For example, I might be hurt and stunned and about to die. With the macros, I can quickly break the stun with scream defiance, stop the creatures from acting with my whistle or stun them with the magic item, get into defensive stance, then retreat or flee.

I don't use hotkeys that much. When I do, though, I use the cont+ and alt+ keys. As an example, I have one key set up to 'tell caravan to' do whatever I want. I have another set with a poem to get into a hunting area, but I probably need to update that because I haven't used it in years.

I also tend to like smarter scripts for training purposes but sometimes just doing something fast by hand is great when locking a skill and moving or hunting with other people.
For bow hunting I use Ctrl+ L to get shard and load (sling ammo) and Ctrl + K to get arrow and load. I use some substitutions with the Genie front end so a quick "as" is "aim + stalk".
Being on a surfacebook I haven't done too much with function keys since I usually just leave Fn toggled off and am utilizing the brightness or volume buttons. I do have some basic arrow key stuff where left arrow is "attack", down arrow is "skin loot" which I'll no-brainer spam when something dies, and then right arrow which I'll "cast, prep <whatever debilitation spell I feel like using this month>". There are a few Ctrl + arrow keys I'll use for getting a thrown weapon and throwing it.
For the most part, that is it. This game taught me to type very quickly decades ago, and I could still close my eyes and run from the crossing bank to the ranger guild in a few seconds. Everything else I feel like it makes to set up short scripts, even if they aren't matching.

I'm an older guy and mainly play my ranger. I mainly use hot key for the combat commands, Ie: slice, chop draw feint, etc. I also have my sniping set on up the ctrl key to do the same Ie: load my arrows (I have dual fire), aim, advance, stalk, hide, and fire. Also use a hot key to arrange all and skin. Err I use the 'f" keys to do that.
The reason I do that is that I'm a bad speller and got tired of misspelling attacks.
