Hi so I have a trader friend trying to get a shop but all of them are full in every province he's searched. I have a trader with a
crossing shop and I was wanting to ask if it were possible to expand the trader shops and allow the owner of the shop to rent out a side room to other traders. This could help us pay our rent and expand the shops so more than one trader can sell from it.
I was wondering what everyone thought about this. Thanks!

I've been waiting months for a shop to open in Shard. I really wish they would add more shops too, please.

It's a failed system that desperately needs fixing. There are quite a few run downs shops with anywhere from 2 to 8 repair messes in them just sitting and wasting our time and space. I get that they don't want someone to lose a shop on a single rollover but really when the shop is basically destitute and obviously hasn't been re stocked or repaired in months it is time for the eviction to happen for others to get a chance. Maybe let 2 rent cycles roll around and if the same messes are still there boot them. There is absolutely NO good reason to let them sit there unused other then laziness regarding system maintenance.

Just a quick note: Do NOT trust the board for saying if there are openings. Even though the board said there were no openings, I ran around the Crossing Plaza and found an open spot and claimed it for my shop. It is totally frustrating to try and get a spot (just like housing) when so many are unused.

I wouldn't call it a failed experiment, but the easiest solution seems to be to either add a waiting list or create new door types restricted to higher level traders. For example: Booth, alcove, nook, opening, or recess. It would also be nice to have a transfer option. Auto move your shop elsewhere to a new location as soon as a new opening shows up.

I would very much like to help my fellow Traders out as Evivere, so I'd like to add my support to this great idea too!

People worked very hard to get those shops, ran the obstacle course and actually got one. Personally I spent 5+ hours camping and waiting, took a day off work too. I think if you flood the market with shops, that would make some folks unhappy that bought their shop for RL cash, or did the work to get one. But I also think that while other traders are waiting, they should be able to sell things. So I would suggest instead of giving shops to everyone, make the waiting a little less harsh by utilizing a system already in place. The trader tables, maybe extend the time a trader can use a table to 24-48 hours? With a smaller number of items available to be placed. I also think shop hoarding might be an issue, meaning a person will make multiple accounts and/or traders and fill multiple shops. Not sure how that can be handled tho.

The fact that things used to be worse is not a good reason not to improve them going forward. Would definitely support making it much easier to get a shop, as well as extending the hours that they are able to remain open.

I would agree.

And just because someone spent RL money, because people in DR will monetize anything they possibly can, as a reason to not improve a system... is flat out ridiculous.

I suppose we have a different viewpoint on "improving things". If something is not challenging to me, then its not all that fun for me. I suppose by your logic, we should just be handed lvl 200 tickets to be redeemed? Just hand out the best weapons and armor? I find it ridiculous to take out challenging aspects to the game.

But it isn't challenging because it is skill based. It isn't challenging because it makes sense within the game world. It is challenging because it is an old system that hasn't really been looked at or improved in probably 15+ years.

While I applaud you for finding a way to overcome the challenge presented by a broken system, that doesn't mean it is good as it currently is and shouldn't be improved.

The only thing currently challenging about trader shops is the remaining fact that there are idiots that have 10 different repair messes and haven't tended their shops in months and should have been evicted numerous cycles ago but the system doesnt oversee this properly.

Exactly this! There should be a system that checks to see if the shop has been maintained, both stocked and cleaned, every few weeks or at minimum, once a month. If it isn't, the trader is evicted and their items boxed for them to pick up later.

A month is too extreme (stuff happens), but 3 months I would agree with. And that is actually what the system tells you is going to happen. It just doesn't and starts exponentially raising hidden fees instead, and then once you are out of funds, evicts you.

I also just think more trader shops would help the situation overall. Basically the primary benefit to being a trader is the shop... they shouldn't be as limited as they are.

I originally said three, but there was only 2 people waiting for a shop in the crossing and 1 in shard this last turnover. I know because I was trying to help a friend get one, it was my buddy and one other guy doing the search. We checked shard and haven to see if there was any chance at making the run....just saying
