SIMUCOIN - Henchmen! on 12/22/2015 09:51 AM CST
Interactable NPCs that you can outfit/gear up and set them to do mundane tasks (no combat). These can include, a personal courier (who'll travel long distances with special packages or messages), a maid or janitor(for your home or yourself) who will tidy up (messaging) and can give trash/unwanted items to (for disposal), shopper(sent to purchase specific items from a store), laborer (haul your items for you and/or set to pickup particular items from the ground or operate basic machinery or perform certain basic tasks such as forge work or carrying water) etc. etc.

It's neat, but IMO it steps on too many toes for what the Trader/Thief goon-squad should be.
Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.

They're completely different types of resources.

>> they are creating custom zones that use a lot of resources
Three things to factor into this:
1) the issue with boats is infinite boats, plus the fact that boat-system rooms as a whole function in an extremely unique (and resource-intensive) way.
2) houses aren't that resource intensive anymore. That's why the "one per account" rule was removed forever ago.
3) house storage isn't as concerning an idea anymore, which is why the scoin shop now sells individual furniture items that hold 2-3x what every furniture item in a house used to hold today.
In terms of time/resource investment, given that creating rooms can be so simple there's an IG tool for players to do the same (ALAE), I strongly doubt it is arduous for GMs to do so, either.
Not to downplay what the item offers or the creativity GMs will contribute to it, but it's essentially two homes stacked together and given some high end alterations and additional flair. I assume the time investment on the GM side isn't much more intensive than doing a couple [rather unique] alteration/atmo sessions.

The dev time requirement can vary based on how compatible someone's vision of the area is with the basic rules of the setting and the English language. It's not unlike a Wedding in that regard.

If this is the case, why does it cost almost 2 grand?
It seems like this should be a high end auction item rather than a simustore item

I do question why the cost went up. At $1k it was something I could at least see myself saving up for down the line.. at $2k.. (or more like $1600ish if you buy the bigger simucoin packages).. it starts to not be worth it.. especially considering that you don't get additional rooms or anything compared to the other times it was offered. I mean at almost double the price.. I would expect the hearthstone option and atmospherics and additional rooms, etc. instead of just the '2' choices they got when they first purchased it.

Because at $1k they sold immediately.

The last time they went up it wasn't as immediate. But it was fast.
But what is the problem with that? Unless it is flat out greed and 'milk the players for as much as you can' mentality.. there is no reason to increase the price, especially if the content included doesn't increase as well.
It is a virtual good. They determined that the package was worth $1000.. unless it offers more 'goods' like the kings wedding package vs the queens, etc... the price jump doesn't make sense. It isn't like the materials used to make it become scarcer.
Re: SIMUCOIN - Henchmen! on 12/22/2015 06:35 PM CST
I too am a little baffled at why the price went up. $1k is still very high, frankly. I mean the reason is probably "because people will pay that much" but that alone isn't a very good one from a customer service standpoint.

They're going off whatever us the players will take, noone has to buy it and if people out there are willing to pony up for one (to effectively support a chunk of the game) it benefits everyone. But, like I said before, there are people just itching to buy some titles, verbs, and other fun stuff from the SIMUCOIN store (might I add for hundreds of dollars); why they don't expand the store from the mockery of a micro-transction store it is currently is a mystery to me. This should be top priority in terms of the business side of the game.

>>Margins and Service are directly connected to each other.
It looks like one has already sold and I'm sure the other will, too, sooner than later. Looks like both were satisfied.
Most people in this thread said that $1,000 was more than they would be willing to spend so why would they care about what you are saying? People were buying them within minutes of them being released at $1k so why wouldn't they raise the price? Supply and demand. The demand is obviously huge for them so why not increase their profits while supplying what players want?
The same thing happens between players, too. When hitman's backpacks were released they were sold for 1k plat all day, and after the game has been flooded by them, and a bigger pack introduced on another quest they now sell for 3-3.5k plat. People will pay for what they want, if you don't like that's ok but someone else will pay it.

Because something being "easy" coding-wise doesn't mean it is without value, as proven by the fact that people are buying them.
