OK, I'm confused. I haven't done it yet but, I thought we could already do this.

IIRC there are plans to allow them to eventually convert Mech to a craft skill, and I don't believe it will be behind a paywall either. Mech conversion can be a complicated process and it's easy to do something you might later regret if you don't have all the information. So instead of implementing it when F2P was released, and potentially creating more problems for the CE team than they already had at the time, they opted to just leave it out. A GM has said they intend to make it possible at some point when they get back to dev for F2P.
