This is just a thing that always bothered me. I rolled up a character named Fkolf.. and played him for months. Out of the blue one day I'm forced to change my name because my name could be construed as a curse. It wasn't until I got forced to change my name I even recognized a hint of a vulgarity in it... and I still think it is a big reach to get from Fkolf to what I assume some random person felt I was saying. Am I correct in thinking that my name wasn't that bad, or was it a heinous crime against a family environment?

<<was it a heinous crime against a family environment?>>

No more heinous than some of the combat messaging, but the GMs have the final say. Were you able to keep all your skills and everything?

Yeah I got to keep everything. I just have always kinda wanted my old name back. Fat chance most likely but... well I just couldn't believe one could be insulted by it unless they were looking to be insulted by a name. Eh... just always kinda hoped that I could get a GM to fix my name... and after seeing that huge list of rediculous names, plus some others that I see in my daily travels, maybe I could get my name changed. For now though, more or less just looking to see if people find the name insulting or not.

Well as long as you got to keep everything. I personally find the name rather hard to pronounce, and when you try to say it out loud it does tend to sound rather like an obscenity, but that's just me. Even if it didn't sound bad, it is still hard to pronounce. I think they did the right thing by allowing you to keep everything else.

Well I'm not the hottest at phonetic spelling... but F(with much emphasis) coalph. I don't see any other way to pronouce it... unless of course you are telling someone what they can do, but are trying to abbreviate the first word and have decided that l can be easily interchanged with f. As I said before, I honestly think you need to be looking for something wrong to reach the conclusion that I was being vulgar... but eh...

It's the first thing I thought of when I saw the name Fkolf.

I wasn't looking for anything vulgar, I just said the name outloud and got stared at and had to explain myself :( Sadly, I think it is just a bit vulgar looking for MOST people and should have been changed.

I can sympathize.

I had a character named Veegan. Forced to change the name, because it was too much like "Vegan". Particularly fond of the "You have one hour" message.
Thanks, I think better under pressure.
Whatever.
Was gonna post a list, but I'll send it to feedback, instead.
