What happens to a characters name after it's not been used for a long time? I'd like to re-use a few names but can't choose them. I'm wondering if it's my old characters still tying up the names. Is it possible to have them cleared by a GM or something? There's one name in particular I'd like back but not enough to pay to reactivate the account.

Nothing happens. Unless you retire the character instead of just deleting it via the website or calling up Billing to do it, the name and all the character info stays in the system until the next purge. This is so that if you ever decided to change your mind you could resume where you left off rather than having start from the CM all over again.

None of which have gotten my first character from AOL days that I brought to the web and have only played once since. Several other characters on that account from back then are still waiting for me to reactivate them without any instruction from me.
