Hello, I posted this idea a few years ago and it had a bit of good feedback but I've never heard anything again. With the Tuesday Tidings I thought it might be worth mentioning again - so here it is!
How about a system where we can make our own 'treasure maps'? I envisioned it as something like a blank map that you hold when you're in a room you want to hide something in, and you hold that object too and then through some verb the object is 'hidden' in the room and it's marked on the map. And then you can give the map to friends, leave them laying around, etc. for people to find the treasure in a similar way to how we read/follow treasure maps now. I thought perhaps if the treasure isn't found after X number of days the map would decay and the item would pop out of the ground and could be gotten by the janitor (or sent to the lost and found bin in the vaults).
I just really want to hide treasure like this myself, and think it would be a lot of fun to chase down treasure others have hidden.

In fact, a couple of times I did host scavenger hunts based on this idea. One time, it was different colored envelopes that were worth prizes that I was carrying at the time. Another time, I had a list of in-game objects that the players were supposed to find, also worth rare prizes that I just happened to have. It was great!
However, I didn't have the option to make a physical map. I think it's a fantastic idea! There are several places where one may find paper and writing implements.
