>>Or HB as a lower min. prep (10) than Break Branch (15) and so you need to put more mana into HB (depending on your skills) for it teach.
That's not necessarily how it works. You need to be casting at your personal cap for each spell.

>>It's how it works most of the time
Let's say you can only cast advanced spells at minimum.
HB, with a min prep of 10, would teach as well as BB, with a min prep of 15. Your personal caps would still be where they are.
If personal caps are based on the difference between minimum and maximum preps, and my guess is that they are, you wouldn't need to cast HB at the same amount as BB until you've almost perfected them both, since they're both advanced spells with similar overall maximum caps.
>>and is a prob. more correct than "it's bugged."
IMO, exp gains from debilitation have always been a bit wonky overall, so I'm much more likely to chalk up debilitation exp gain being odd due to the formula acting buggy/wonky/oddly before anything else.

That's why the someone else asked the person what he was casting it at and what is skills where, to which he refused to reply, and said merely that it "was buggy."
We don't know if he can only cast it at min. See how that works?
Without more data, a GM will either A) ignore the post B) Waste their time when the is no bug, it's merely a lack of mana or C) discover there is a bug...which we could get to IF the original poster would have given more info...
Thus my post.
It may very well be buggy, but I'd rather have GM's tracking down KNOWN bugs than chasing imaginary bugs that can be figured out in other ways...

All good points, but I was responding to what you said about needing to put more mana into HB because it has a lower minimum prep.

ooooooooooooor you could take my advice as the more experienced player and realize it's not teaching?
> prep hb 25
That will disrupt less than a quarter of your current attunement.
Your skin briefly withers and tightens, becoming gaunt as the energies of the Harawep's Bonds spell begin to build up through your body.

You gesture at a juvenile desert armadillo.
A thousand tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling over a juvenile desert armadillo, trapping it in a cocoon of sticky webbing.
Roundtime: 2 sec.
...how many of you are rangers again?

>>>how many of you are rangers again?
It doesn't matter if anyone is a ranger or how long they've been around....
Saying one spell teaches and another doesn't isn't helpful...showing one cast at 25 mana isn't helpful.
Go into Armadillos prep it 30 (since 25 doesn't teach) and cast it..
then at 40
then at 45
then at 50
Etc...
At some point either it will teach or backfire...if it backfires, come back down 3 mana levels and see if it teaches there.
After doing that and it still doesn't teach, then it could be a bug.

Let's get some data points out there so you guys can get off your soap boxes and realize that the OP that was telling you it was broken was some N00B.
Showing Magic skills that you have skill in.
Life Magic: 286 51% clear (0/34) Attunement: 298 39% clear (0/34)
Arcana: 119 87% clear (0/34) Targeted Magic: 122 95% clear (0/34)
Augmentation: 257 04% clear (0/34) Debilitation: 228 44% clear (0/34)
Utility: 214 18% clear (0/34) Warding: 199 58% clear (0/34)
Sorcery: 7 29% clear (0/34)
With HB:
After 3 casts back to back @ min prep = CLEAR
After 3 casts back to back @ 38 mana = 1/34
Casting at 39+ = BACKFIRE
With BB:
After 3 casts back to back @ min prep = 5/34
So, leave the man alone... something is broken.

Its probably just meant to basically stop somebody from advancing, or doing most actions. Immobilize is pretty much now just a rt in another form, kinda like a pause button. Pretty sure immobilize still gives defense penalty in 2.0 but in 3.0 I don't notice a thing as far as a penalty goes with PV. I could be wrong but i've tested quite a bit trying to hit things on the edge of my skill in test and I didn't see it being any easier.
