Are goblin shamans supposed to be casting on their eely friends?

A goblin shaman gestures.
The ethereal shield surrounding a grass eel shimmers slightly.

Yup, that's normal. I even remember them casting ES on my wee chars a few times! That was funny too!

"Friendly" creatures affect the Manipulating Empath with their group spells, too. Well, storm bulls do at least. It's pretty neat.

Yeah, group spells are intended to affect all allies when dealing with critters.

That being the case, if you are a bard, and have an empath with an avenger out in your group, dema is treating the avenger as an antagonist rather than an ally.

From empaths perspective:

You shift with the force of the gusting storm of sound, leaning into the wind at just the right moment.
A flowing, almost lyrical quality enters Yacov's chanting as he continues to perform his enchante. Each phrase flows to the next with the simple, agile grace of a light-footed S'Kra Mur running across the desert's sands.
The tall alfar warrior spins around quickly, appearing to lose track of its surroundings in the swirling miasma of sound.
