>predict analyze goblin
The gossamer strands of fate surrounding a goblin slip easily into view.
A quivering fiery a moonblade that slowly reshapes itself into a crossed sword and mace. It pops out of existence the moment you notice it. A goblin stands in the background, watching.
A quivering crimson a shield that slowly reshapes itself into two crossed swords. It pops out of existence the moment you notice it. A goblin stands in the background, watching.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
And no, before you ask, no. This does not imply in any way shape or form that I plan to do creature predictions. This is a clever hack job on a technically very different system into making you think there are predictions there. Just no. NO NONONONON NO.

Messaging's a bit quirky there, Raesh. Or is it supposed to sound like formal heraldry?

Yeah, fixed that.
It's still got a quirk or two to bang out (thus why it's not quite in Test yet) this was just something people were requesting yesterday that I had to think about if there was an easy solution to. It turns out the answer is "kinda". It's not an "easy" solution, and it's certainly not robust, but it does a decent job of pretending to be ;)

So am I getting this straight, critters can use moon magic (predications) in certain cases. I may be a bit sleep depraved and not getting it? Excuse me if I am, just explain. Thanks.

Not exactly. Tezirah's Veil inflicts prediction-like curses on creatures. Previously, there was no way to check and see what they were.
A way to check them has been added.

Ok I havent tried it out yet but can we do the analyze in combat without having to retreat out? Thats bugged me for a while now... Im fine with no predicting in combat since that would be terribly distracting, but we can power perceive in combat and I dont see predict analyze all that different in terms of checking. I figure we have a pretty good grasp on the predicting thing to quickly sense whats up.

Ok just tested and you still have to be out of melee to use PREDICT ANALYZE... is there any way we can convince this to be changed? Especially if we are using prediction like effects in battle. It would be nice if we could do a PREDICT ANALYZE TARGET too so that it just analyzes what we are facing. I kept having trouble trying to analyze by retreating and having new critters come in and analyzing the wrong one and then having to retreat again for a second try.

I thought about it, but I'm still leaning towards "no". It seems weird to unlock only a very small aspect of the verb (Predict analyze on creatures only) while blocking the rest, and I'm not about to unlock predict analyze players in combat without nerfing the exp, and no one wants that.
Ultimately, I don't expect people to really use this all that often. It's mostly there for flavor and so people can get a general sense of what you can do with the spell (mechanically and with X mana Y skill etc.)
>>It would be nice if we could do a PREDICT ANALYZE TARGET too so that it just analyzes what we are facing.
Not really. I'm already jumping through a number of hoops just to get the parser to handle it this well.

There actually is a creature that is suppose to use predictions, but it hasn't worked in along time (And not sure if it ever did frankly... I think it did). I'll likely restore that functionality at some point because it makes me laugh.

In one of the books it states Umbramagus are known for using predictions and various magic, but I'm not sure the predictions were ever implemented.
