I noticed that in 3.0, it is much easier to gate. Currently, it takes 1441 PM to gate from aesry to boar clan, but I can do this in 3.0 with less ranks. I just thought I'd bring it up just to make sure this was correct.

I asked about this in chatter and one of the GMs (can't remember who) said it was a bug. I was able to open a gate from Hbarhvidar to Aesry with a 15 prep moongate at 700ish ranks. So yeah, it's ridiculously easy.

>So why the descriptor of voodoo?

Because apparently the code that runs the heavens makes some branches of string theory look like arithmatic.

My understanding: the heavens were coded by an actual astronomer/astrophysicist/mathematician type who had degrees and way too much math, and modeled an actual heavenly bodies system. So, anyone who isn't at a similar level of base knowledge looks at the system and goes 'screw this, give me that beard system'.

Adding nothing to the conversation since 1834.

Eh, shockingly, the base Heavens system isn't actually that horrifying. It's overly complex for what it needs to do, but it's not bad.

The problem is that there's at least two more systems overlapping that and any given system may be looking at any one (or more than one...) of those systems, and there's also no documentation whatsoever.

It's also worth noting that the bulk of what handles planets is not in that base system but was grafted on later.
