I was just wondering about the status of our new spells (engagement control and DFA defense). I know there's a lot of 3.0 debugging going on, but there are also still spells being released, so I thought I'd ask.
Will the engagement control spell simply bring things to melee with the caster? I'd also like it to be able to push things away or hold them at pole range, or even be able to manipulate an engagement that you are not part of (get a critter off of a newb, break up a fight, etc.), although I can see how that might get abused by bought trash.
As far as the DFA defense spell, I think it was said in the magic folder that it will be a cyclic. I'm fine with that, but I imagine it will be a tougher spell (being cyclic), and I was wondering if the ability to block DFA with a shield is a little niche (re: PVP-focused) to focus an entire spell on. Are there very many mobs that have DFA attacks, and I just haven't fought them yet? I'm in favor of tacking other interesting defense modifiers onto it to make it the premiere defense spell, like maybe allowing it to also extend the threat range of your equipped weapon for the purpose of parrying.
Anyhow, those are just my thoughts/questions. Take 'em or leave 'em.
