Fairly straightforward idea, and hopefully presented in a way that is relatively easy to implemented.
Home gardening for homes and allow players to farm their own cotton for outfitting or healing herbs.
Implementation:
- Add 3 "plot" slots to Homes. (f2p/subscribers with the Scoin homes get 1 plot)
- Mechanically speaking, you're just interacting with the plots/peering out to the backyard from within your own home, so no new additional rooms are created as a result of this.
- Add an "environment" attribute (or whatever it is wilderness rooms use) for plant suitability. This attribute defaults to the type of location the home is at.
- Purchasable or Carftable tools/mods (arbors, green housing stuff, irrigation, shades, etc.) to modify the environment attribute if the owner wants to get a more favorable environment for the desired plant. This must affect all plots, you can't have a separate greenhouse for each plot for your tiny backyard.
- TEND, WATER, PLANT, CUT, TRIM, etc. as appropriate to grow and harvest your crop.
- Initial seeds must be purchased from the store, but you could grow your own afterwards.
(Wool from domesticated animals in phase 2 since I see pets/animals being a whole different ballgame)
Ever since Outfitting i've always wondered how we could create higher quality/our own cotton/yarn etc. I think HOMES would be the best place to achieve this, and it need not be super complicated with full agricultural system.
Additionally, giving 3 plots to premies over 1 for non-real Estate holders would bring back the perk value for premies.

Pretty sure cotton fiber spun into cotton thread/yarn will be masterwork with nominal skill, and it trickles through the items.
Farming in Dragonrealms... lol why not.

Personally I love the idea. I'd want to see some public plots available (particularly to Rangers), but I like the idea of extra plots for those who have homes.
My only slight worry is that Outdoorsmanship already covers so much of the gathering in game (mining, lumberjacking, foraging). I think that covers literally every source of crafting material so far. It makes sense for it to cover gardening/harvesting too, but I wonder if it might deserve to be split up at some point.

Would be kind of neat if this was done and tied in with growing plants for fibers to make cloth for tailoring or grow stuff for alchemy. Takes X amount of time to mature, plant can yield X amount each time, plant has X amount of times you can replant it, etc.
Sell "rare seeds" at auction or purchase at events or via LTB's.
