I have a bed, a desk, and some cushions in my home (as chairs). I've been trying to buy a sofa or couch to replace the cushions, but they always want to take my desk or bed away instead!
Anyone know if something can be done?

Each house is allocated so many slots. A couch will replace the bed or the desk slot. There's no work around for it.. Sorry..

That is correct. Currently, there are a limited number of slots that fit in each house, and only two of them are for "big" furniture.
However, I would not say that we'll never have other options. Solomon has a way of surprising even his fellow GMs and turning "never" into a fib. :)

As an alternative, you could buy some armchairs. They aren't couches, but they are the closest thing I can come up with.

..or maybe some clever GM could design some chairs that read as a loveseat... or chaise or um.. what else is smaller then a sofa? Divan... Settee... and have those sold in the chair slots. I have a sofa and armchairs now but a sofa and a settee might be nice.
