If you try to wear the ring or otherwise interact with it in any way when you are not a premium subscriber, it will poof. These are premium-only items. I guess a workaround would be to stick it in a pouch before you downgrade, and put that pouch somewhere safe and never ever open it until you upgraded again?

Why can't these work similar to bank books and vault books in this regard? Do nothing or maybe have a tarnished look after interacting with a non-premie? Speaking as someone who has downgraded and then reupgraded when I have the money again, I'm concerned that if these are put onto the LTB system (which I believe someone hinted at a few threads back), I'd be spending my LTBs on something that would poof if I ever don't have enough money in a given month to pay the extra premie charge. Even if I'll be back to premie the month after. That seems... heavy-handed.
Just upgraded and grabbed an estate holder's ring last night. I looked around Fang Cove to see about getting it activated but didn't find Keishalae. Does she come around regularly or have an assistant that shows up sometimes perhaps? Elanthipedia says she was responsible for the "initial efforts to enchant Estate Holder rings with teleporting magics" so wasn't sure if she's handed off this duty to someone else. The estate holder representative near the exit portal didn't seem to know anything about activating the ring either, so I thought I'd ask here in case I'm overlooking the obvious.
She comes out whenever a GM feels like animating her.
On the other hand, it was said that eventually there would be a more reliable method of getting your rings enchanted, but nothing was said specifically.

I get that, but it was a weekend so figured there was at least a slim chance she or someone with the ability to activate rings may have been around. I wasn't in the habit of paying attention to premium events or announcements while I had a basic account and was looking around the Cove for the first time anyway. Was curious if there's a schedule regarding her appearances (such as after premium meetings) since the change to the rings is still relatively new. Well, relatively new in my book, anyway. I thought I may have overlooked something regarding ring activation is all.
