First, I want to preface this by stating this is not a "hurry up" type post. What I would like to find out is with Fang Cove's release, are there plans in the not too distant future to release new LTB rewards on any scale? I've been EXTREMELY impressed with the improved useful loot from the quest prizes; in fact, even the $10 run prizes are quite amazing in my personal opinion. My concern is that I don't want to spend my LTBs now on say an alteration if there are new nice items that will be released through some future Fang Cove event as it takes a fair amount of time to build them up. Now please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I recall Lyneya stating at a meeting a few months ago that she was working on a LTB item overhaul? Is this still the case? Will a wild party at the cabana start a jungle fire consuming the bungalow and it's contents? Any update you could provide would be most appreciated and thanks again for all the releases and what you are doing upstairs.

My cynicism says that LTB items will never equal Paid-quest items. The loot is the entire goal for a paid quest, it has to be flash. LTB items are more of a side benefit to Premium/Plat status. They are also eternally available (at least for 5-10 years until the next massive revamp), at any time. Meaning the overall power level is probably required to be significantly lower. After all, why bother going on the 10$ extra quest when you can walk over and cash in your points for the same or better reward? It's an incentive thing; they have absolutely no incentive to make the LTB items good/great aside from mouth action on worth of Premy/plat status, and every incentive to make people do pay quests.

Also, if you really want more LTB points, going up to Plat level on your account gives you 200 points a month, for 10$ more. And doesn't require you to play plat or otherwise do anything special.

The underlying scope of my post isn't to expect/hope/request for "quest quality loot", rather it is if new neat items are on the way of any magnitude I do not want to waste my points now. And for the record I am Plat as well as Premium but it still takes time to build up points so I'm just looking for a friendly update if they're willing to offer any information.

>What I would like to find out is with Fang Cove's release, are there plans in the not too distant future to release new LTB rewards on any scale?

I can only speak for the stuff I'm personally involved with. As to revamp of existing bungalow items and other projects, I have no comment. That said...

Since the older LTBs have been migrated to Fang Cove, one of the upcoming steps will be to re-release the custom LTB options (PREMIUM 11). They're largely waiting on me to have time to fix any issues that may come up with the re-release.

We've also got a number of new LTB projects sitting on a back burner right now while we work on some other priority projects. In a nutshell:

1) The mount contest we ran a few months back is going to introduce LTB mounts. We'll be cleaning up, adding to and tweaking some of the submissions for the initial release with the potential for more down the line.

2) The LTB verb is getting a major overhaul. You're going to be able to spend small amounts of LTB points for temporary perks. The goal is to bring in some added convenience to being a Premium player. We realize that not all of these will appeal to everyone, but that's how everything is. Just because you may not have a use for it, doesn't mean someone else won't find one. Keeping in mind that prices and concepts can change before release (and some may never release), this is what we have lined up:

LTB CLAIM COINS {#}:
--Allows you to claim platinum coins for LTB points.
--You can claim 1, 10 or 100 platinum at a time.
--It costs 10 LTB points per platinum.

LTB CLAIM RPA {#}:
--Allows you to purchase RPAs for LTB points.
--Level 1: 25 LTB points
--Level 2: 75 LTB points
--Level 3: 150 LTB points
--Level 4: 300 LTB points
--See the RPA verb for more information on Role Playing Awards.

LTB CLAIM FAVORS
--Allows you to purchase a favor for 50 points per favor.
--You cannot use this if you already have 10+ favors.

LTB CLAIM HEALING:
--Allows you free access to select Empath NPCs around the game.
--This benefit lasts for 15 days and costs 150 points.

LTB CLAIM FERRY
--Allows you free access to select ferries, lifts, etc.
--This benefit lasts for 15 days and costs 150 points.

LTB CLAIM HERB {LIST|(HERB)}
--Allows you to purchase a healing herb of your choice for 25 points.
--Use LTB CLAIM HERB LIST to see what herbs are available.
--Each herb will be a 6-bite/dose portion.

LTB CLAIM TRANSPORTATION:
--Allows you one-time access to a special portal hub for 200 points.
--The hub contains portals leading to most areas around the game.
--This perk can only be used once every 7 days and is a one way trip.

If you have more ideas that could be added to those, this would be the thread to add them to. There's no ETA on this -- the bulk of the work has been done already, but there's a rather significant bug at the moment that I need to track down and squish before we can send it for QC/release.

At a glance and just doing some quick math in my head, a lot of that seems really expensive. Just my opinion though.

Zad,

Thank you for the update. I am also curious, do u expect there ever to be big ltb rewards valued in the 5, 10, 15k range for long time estate holders? Or is this what you have in mind for the mounts? Again, thanks for the info and I will try to get some utility driven ideas out later today.

The list is cool. Especially the transport stuff.

I'd say the items should probably be priced in the 100 points range though, as it gives people something they can do every month, without having to either go plat or save points.

A question... Do these happen in place no matter where you are? For example, if you're in the middle of no where could you buy the herb you need? Or does it work in place of payment at a shop?

It does seem a little expensive for the herbs compared to the plat. If I got 1 plat, I could easily buy ten herbs (they're mostly between 600-700 at Brother Yorgi's, not sure about other stores). So why spend 2.5x as much to get one herb, when I can spend 10 LTB points and get ten times as much? I do see a little advantage if you can buy the herb where ever you are, but not enough to justify that kind of LTB price difference.

Suggestion: Repairing items.

>a lot of that seems really expensive

Nothing is finalized yet. Also...

>For example, if you're in the middle of no where could you buy the herb you need?

Yes. This is the convenience of these options. If you find yourself in a remote area without quick/easy access to herbs or favors or staring at a ferry without coin (don't you just HATE that?), these options are available. This convenience carries a price, but we're still working on it and prices will be settled later on.

>So why spend 2.5x as much to get one herb, when I can spend 10 LTB points and get ten times as much?

This assumes there's an herb shop within easy access of wherever you may be. That may not always be the case.

>do u expect there ever to be big ltb rewards valued in the 5, 10, 15k range for long time estate holders?

The custom LTBs thus far have been the peak of our pricing. For some of them, it can take 2.5 years to have enough points to get them. One of my favorite parts of the "new" cumulative time system when it came was that we could move away from the "1 reward per year" model. I don't personally have anything planned in those price ranges at this time, but the mounts haven't been finalized, and you never know what may show up down the line.

1) Repair - Repairing items, while it can be done for a few techniques anywhere now I believe, would be a handy LTB ability if it wasn't too expensive. Figure maybe 25-50 ltb per use (that's maybe 2-4 uses per month depending on subscription and definately adds value). I would also venture to say it would likely be one of the most used of the LTB verb since combat is a major factor of the game across all guilds and repairing armor isn't as fun but mandatory.

2) Mobile Banking - Another idea might be a bank deposit ability similar to the boxes from the riot quest. One time cost 50-100 ltbs and allows you to drop X coins in a 24 hour period into any bank of their choosing.

3) Global Chat - Would an estate "chatter" like in Plat be out of the question for a LTB purchase? It would be REALLY nice to be able to RP in chat with friends while hunting. Not to lesson the face to face interaction but just to add to the richness of gameplay while circumstances don't allow with several stuck on Riss and others on a mainland route.

1. WOuldn't wase LTB's on it

2. Unless playing a Necro, wouldn't waste LTB's on it

3. How would this work? Like pay 200 LTB get a wee of access? Might waste LTB's on it

How about LTB's for rpa's?

HIgh end LTB items. I would backpay my subscription. If running a $10 quest 10 times can get you to a level of earning sweet prizes, $480 a year would be nice to have access to higher end weapon/magical weapons/boosting items.

I only spend my LTB's on alterations because the LTB items just dont compare to forged gear statwise. Even permagweths don't have much draw because plats are so easy to make and buy them.

Just my thoughts. I know you guys are redoing aot of hings and I def appreciate all the work. But if you added auction quality once a year kind of items I would subscibe plat status to get at them.

Ltbs accrue from spending RL $. Argueably more than what is brought in thru the riot quests, at least per subscriber. With that in mind, if you are willing to spend alot of LTB points, plat-level presumably - you should be able to get something really cool. Like... A boat. And it would have a stipulation that you could only get one per account. Ever.

Lyneya, since you asked about it in the meeting tonight, I got to thinking.

What would keep me on as a plat subscriber (Skipping straight from prime to plat, no Premium here), would be the ability to use the travel mechanics you mentioned 1 time a week (I consider a journey to a point, and back to where I came a single use, similar to how the estate rings work. Go back in a short period of time, you can. Stay over the threshold and you're walking).

I would also like to buy in to some type of OOC chat channel similar to plat/TF, with the obvious caveat on language. The ooc chat is one of the great things I like about non-prime instances.

If those two things combined (we'll say 4 travel uses per week), and access to an OOC chat channel, were put in for 200 points a month, I'd stay plat and never have any points to spend on other stuff.

Lyneya, another suggestion:

I've never actually been able to run any of the quests due to scheduling conflicts, and sold out times. What about using LTB's to get a custom scheduled run time?

They generally do this already for free. Just contact the quest team and let them know you have a group of X people which meets the threshold of them running the quest.

This was brought up in the meeting last night (26Feb2012) and a few people, myself included, brought up that we were against this option as it lessens the value of earning an RPA and I also think it gives an unfair advantage to the Premium subscriber if they can boost their learning rate several times a month if they chose to.

I was at the meeting and felt like most people addressed the issues appropriately. I only add my voice as a vote against RPAs. I like to RP - it's why I play. When I get an RPA, it doesn't convince me to roleplay more, but I appreciate the fact my efforts are recognized by others. To me, granting RPAs in exchange for LTBs (and essentially, for money) diminishes the effort I put into roleplaying as whole, not the RPA itself. Purely an emotional argument on my end.

Now, change the name of the LTB item from RPA to Experience Gain Bonus, and they are no longer connected to your roleplaying effort or the diminishing of it.

I'd see it as a warning sign if players get a major portion of their "it is worth roleplaying!" from RPAs.

You're right. I had in my mind that the LTB points were being exchanged for role-playing points, not directly for the RPA (which I agree we should just rename Experience Gain Bonus/EGB). In reviewing Zad's post it appears I had that wrong. A character's role-playing points won't be impacted during the LTB for RPA/EGB exchange, correct? For me that satisfies the purist side of things.

That said, it sure would be nice to see some expansion and love for the awards available in exchange for role-playing points. People have been asking for years to get awards that might actually enhance/support...yanno...role-playing as opposed to the EGB-only option available right now. I know it has been a slow evolution as historically RPA = EGB and role-playing points are still a recent (Simu-time) creation. Is there any discussion or action happening behind the scenes to that end?
