Critter Appraisal on 12/21/2013 08:43 PM CST
So I noticed a lot since 3.0 hit that things were goofy on different appraisals for a while, and figured its because they are dynamic now from last attack, balance and what not. But I pretty consistently get wrong messages for offense vs defense calculations for some reason. For example in Adult dillos and with 520 ranks of brawling roughly.
You are certain that the desert armadillo is healthy.
You are certain that the desert armadillo is slightly fatigued.
You are certain that it is a little stronger than you are.
You are certain that it is about as agile as you are.
You are certain that it is about as disciplined as you are.
You are certain that it is not quite as quick to react as you are.
You are certain that it is about as conditioned as you are.
Taking stock of its offensive abilities, and defending with a shalswar-hide targe and a blackened steel parry stick with sturdy steelsilk straps, you are certain that the desert armadillo is a solid opponent.
Taking stock of its defensive abilities, and attacking with your fists, you are certain that the desert armadillo is a simple opponent.
If you brawled with the enemy, you are certain that it would train very well, provided you can land a blow.
If you defended by parrying attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train exceptionally well.
If you defended by evading attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train somewhat poorly.
If you defended by blocking attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train acceptably.
If you attempted to beguile the enemy with tactics, you are certain that it would train very well, provided you can affect it..
If you targeted and cast a spell at the enemy, you are certain that it would train rather well.
If you attempted to debilitate the enemy, you are certain that it would train rather well.
And....
You are certain that the desert armadillo is healthy.

Taking stock of its offensive abilities, and defending with a shalswar-hide targe and a blackened steel parry stick with sturdy steelsilk straps, you are certain that the desert armadillo is a slightly less skilled opponent.
Taking stock of its defensive abilities, and attacking with your fists, you are certain that the desert armadillo is a difficult opponent.
If you brawled with the enemy, you are certain that it would train very well, provided you can land a blow.
If you defended by parrying attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train exceptionally well.

If you attempted to debilitate the enemy, you are certain that it would train rather well.
Now I think the defensive calculating is pretty much always accurate for the most part, but its gone as far as showing them as well beneath my abilities for brawling and i'm here to say its almost impossible for me to hit them with low 500's brawling, plus, it shows on the if you brawled with the enemy line, that I would be training really well provided you can land a blow, since it knows i'm hard pressed to do so.

Yeah, some definite errors. Most of it seems to be wearing vs arm held shields. Seeing some error messaging problems too.

You are certain that the armored shalswar is healthy.
You are certain that the armored shalswar is slightly fatigued.
You are certain that it is somewhat weaker than you are.
You are certain that it is rather less agile than you are.
You are certain that it is somewhat less disciplined than you are.
You are certain that it is rather less quick to react than you are.
You are certain that it is definitely less conditioned than you are.
Taking stock of its offensive abilities, and defending with a gargoyle-hide bucklernaturally, you are certain that the armored shalswar is a solid opponent.
Taking stock of its defensive abilities, and attacking with your fists, you are certain that the armored shalswar is something you could wipe the floor with.
If you brawled with the enemy, you are certain that it would train exceptionally well, but you probably won't be landing many blows.
If you defended by parrying attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train rather well.
If you defended by evading attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train somewhat poorly.
If you defended by blocking attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train very poorly.
If you attempted to beguile the enemy with tactics, you are certain that it would train somewhat poorly.

<<Get a large bundle of skins and/or an untied gem pouch, and the most expensive/complex instruments you can find.
<<I've used gem pouches, bundles, and instruments solely for 1400 ranks. Still easy peasy to lock.

Which instrument are you using now? I'm having trouble learning with my instrument lately.

Have you tried bagpipes? I think the experience awarded from assess is based on the difficulty of the instrument and those are on the upper end of difficulty, unless something more difficult has been released in the last 3 years.
