Are there any plans for enchantments that Barbs could use without penalties, such as enchantments that could interact with a barbarian's inner fire? I'm just wondering what kind of use barbs can get out of this system.

I don't expect that will change too much from the existing system. Self-powered enchantments should work more or less normal for barbarians.

Hopefully none. I personally would throw a hissy fit if there were enchantments that interacted with Inner Fire, unless they were a completely non-magic type of enchantment (is that even possible?).

Which is not to say that they shouldn't exist, only that I would be upset if they did.

I refuse to think that Caraamon would ever throw a hissy fit!

Perhaps go on a killing spree?

'Inner-Fire Interaction with Enchantments'

Such things as chakral already exist. I'm not sure what your personal stance on them is, but they do exist. War paint could reasonably be an enchanted item that interacts with inner fire. I don't see why objects that react to inner fire - perhaps not make use of it directly, but react to it - would be impossible. For instance, one might create a chest that could only be opened by an individual with inner fire. That could get real interesting. And who could possibly resist the inner fireball wand?

If there were any players who could retaliate or challenge me, believe me i would. Gorteous is about the only open profile player who would/could fight back, but fighting him over and over repeatedly does not consist of a killing spree, or would it be any fun. Plus hes my bff!

Magic and Inner Fire are incompatible. Barbarians will be able to use self-activating items with sufficient arcana skill. There may be some additional side effects to using some of the enchantments, we'll just have to see.

Warpaint and Roar masks are mundane. It is the Barbarian that brings out its supernatural capabilities.

AFAIK, anything that uses a MD skill check would teach MD, right?

If so, wouldn't using self-activating devices teach MD?

The problem is that 1 bit into a pool, even at something low like 10 ranks, isn't really 'training' the skill.

Especially when you consume a charge (or more typically multiples) to activate the item.

It's rather like requiring you to get a scroll every time you want to train MD, only they cost 5 plat and you can only get 1 mindstate per scroll.

Enchanting as a NMU will be an excellent way to learn Arcana. Many of the lower level magical devices will be excellent ways to train Arcana.

I agree - to date we've had dismal, horrible ways for NMUs to learn Arcana. I can't change the past, but going forward this should be much better.

The Crossing would be a smoldering crater when I was done with it, if that ever happened.

How are you going to do that without magic?

I've gotten very good at building very hot fires. I just need to upscale it.

No one tell him that fires are innately magical, like herbs!

Yeah, chakrel and other barbarian tools are explicitly not magic, and thus will not be in enchanting.
