If you check the DR web site, and look at thier "beautiful maps" you will see that there is a new Land opening up. Forfedhdar will be west of Zoluren. There are two dwarven cities there...Hibarnvidar and Nenav Dalar. I would bet you that the DWARVEN cities would be the site of the first mine. shrug Just my 2 cents.

The dwarven town of Hvaral may be a likely spot for mining to appear, as they seem to ship out quite a bit of ore to neighboring cities. Just a thought.

Consider it has a quarry and is in the "GEMFIRE" Mountains, I'd say so too. But, maybe that's just me.

Oh..wait..was the quarry in Fornsted or Hvaral?

<<Consider it has a quarry and is in the "GEMFIRE" Mountains>>

Here's something else from the book we were talking about over on the Dwarf boards, Syrath:

"Hvaral was the first known settlement in the Gemfire Mountains, but even so, it yielded little true advantage for Kwarlog. Despite its name, no great gem mines could be found in Gemfire. Neither were they able to mine for precious, usable ores, or salt, such as could be derived further to the south, in the heart of Forfedhdar."

So I don't think we'll be seeing any mines around Hvaral. Fornsted could be another matter entirely.

Map to hidden Dwarven mines can be found on page 33 ...NOT....

Mines Should be well kept secret just tell me and ill keep it a secret.

If there were gems anywhere in any territory owned by a dwarf the location type or amount wouldnt put it in a book so people (elves) would come steal it. It would be a secret coded into a book or a riddle on a tunnel wall. Written ofcourse in ..... you guessed it Dwarven.

Well, there ARE those maps on the walls of the MAMAS buildings. Im not sure exactly what they mark, nor what they say, since I wasn't able to find the words written on it in the Haakish Lexicon, but I think they might lead to mines and/ore (hehehe) veins of minerals.

Now come on Grim,

Even if the pointy-ears DID know where a Dwarven mine was located and went there, are you that worried that they could do anything with it besides waggle their fingers at it or write books upon books about it? Bah. They'll find an axe in their skulls before they ever get the strength to excavate the mine. ;P

Ahh, but does mountain elf mean IN mountains or ON mountains? I always thought it was ON mountains, since the dwarves that lived IN the mountains would yell loudly at the elves if they tried to come in.

First off, that post was in jest and meant towards Grimslayer. I didn't mean to offend anyone (although it doesn't seem that you were), but if I did I am sorry. But on the other hand, you may know how to run around the tunnels, but that doesn't mean you know how to use them. ;)

On the contrary, the Mountain Elves started out as slaves to the Dwarves, for the very purpose of mining. It's the first thing many of them learned, as all the adults were slain.
