Is there not some mechanic, that prevents mining dangers from occurring right after you just mitigated one?
R> [mine3]: prospect danger
You scan the area and determine that continued mining here would be slightly dangerous because the ground rumblings signal a pending explosion. Your analysis has shown a way to significantly reduce the danger present by adjusting the angle of mining. Using a discarded stone you make several notations on the wall both to remind yourself and to direct other miners.
Roundtime: 15 sec.
R>
* A retch fiend gurgle with rage and snaps its maggot-filled mouth at you. You evade.
[You're solidly balanced and opponent has slight advantage.]
R>
* A retch fiend emites a wet gurgle and swings its rotten fists at you. You dodge.
[You're solidly balanced and in superior position.]
R>
* A retch fiend hisses with rage and snaps it rotten mouth at you. You dodge.
[You're solidly balanced and in better position.]
R>
* A retch fiend lunges forward and swings its rotten fists savagely at you. You dodge.
[You're solidly balanced and in superior position.]
R>
A retch fiend stretches out its clawed arms, gapes open its dislocated jaw and begins to shriek at you!
A gurgling sound emanates from the a retch fiend just before a writhing white mass erupts from its maw and flies directly at you!
You dodge to one side as the retched stream flies past!
[You're solidly balanced and have slight advantage.]
R>
* A retch fiend lunges forward and swings its rotten fists savagely at you. You dodge.
[You're solidly balanced and in excellent position.]
> [mine3]: mine
Fetid warmth washes over you after your wide shovel releases gas trapped beneath some stone. The stench seems to pervade your senses, leaving you with a lingering nausea.

Possibly dumb question, but did you remove a mine between the successful prospect danger and the mine that caused the disaster? I'm not sure why you would have been hit with a gas attack after disarming an explosion attack, so there should have at least been a mine between the two.

Looks like it stacked it with the script activation notification:
>> [mine3]: mine
Simplest explanation is that you didn't completely wipe out the danger with your PROSPECT DANGER.

That was my initial guess, too, but the prospect danger was in response to an explosion trap while the trap itself was a gas trap.

As stated, it was two separate dangers. Even so, if you successfully manage to prospect a danger when it is only slightly dangerous, it should be eliminated 100% of the time. This is true at 0 ranks and 700 ranks, at least I've never seen otherwise.

What in the heck are you talking about. That's the script mine3.cmd sending a single command to the game "mine".
>>Simplest explanation is that you didn't completely wipe out the danger with your PROSPECT DANGER.
Except there has been no indication of a partial success when prospecting danger, nor that multiple dangers can exist simultaneously.
