You offer a class in Mechanical Lore to your group.
Everyone in the group gets standard "LISTEN in 30 sec" message. Even better, they have an option for automatically listening if they're in the group. I figure it would be good for changing subjects.

Hrm, I like this idea. I'll see what I can do. No promises, though. My workload is piling up higher and higher. Whee!

I know. Hm.. Did I forget to suggest an opt-in/opt-out for that? No matter. Barbarians and Paladins should be automatically forced opt-out on any skills that actually do harm for them to learn. They can still listen deliberately, if they want to, but auto-listen makes it too easy to screw with people.

<<<Now as for the skill, I can easily mindlock multi op in actual combat, but my evasion never gets past maybe muddled at best in combat. in a class taught by a person with 3 ranks of evasion and 5 in teaching, I got mindlocked in 2 minutes, and stayed mindlocked while I foraged and did other various skills and had a grand time chit chatting.>>>
Vastly different from my experiences so far. Perhaps your scholarship or concentration boosts the rate at which you learn or something? Mine's relatively low, and it took somewhere from 15-30 minutes (can't remember exactly) to lock evasion while being taught by someone with much higher evasion and teaching than my evasion and scholarship.
Otherwise, it could be a bug. I dunno, all I know is that I like the changes because it makes some problem skills no longer such a pain in the tail to train... and cutting down on annoyances makes the game more fun. I have to agree with the poster above who said teaching should not be where to look for challenge... battle-hardened adventurers (and traders) do not traditionally seek to challenge themselves by giving lectures on their experience or listening to someone else talk about theirs.

<<Can non magic guilds teach magic if they have the ranks? Target magic too? Is there a magic number of ranks someone has to have in order to teach a class?>>
not at the present time, but dart is lookin into it for us. <i would assume it would mean commoners, thieves and traders, most likely barbs would not want to>
