Nearly $3,000 bid for those tickets? You've GOT to be kidding! For that price, I'd go buy my own very widescreen TV and the other two on DVD and watch them at home before going to see the third installment at the theater! And probably still have enough left over to buy popcorn and drinks. (Maybe... the scale finally tipped! Our last trip to the theater, refreshments cost more than tickets).

Hmm. I just looked on ebay but only searched for "lord of the rings tickets" and there was quite a few (mostly outta Seattle) with the highest being $306 (14 bids, 1 day left), $305 (7 bids, 2 days left), and $1000 (no bids).

Like I said I was in a hurry and so just searched for "Lord of the rings tickets" I just did a few more through searches and didn't find any higher then last time I checked <shrugs>. It's possible the sales were already over, not arguing just showing my findings. Either way that's still like a 1000% mark up within a few days! Boy are some people going to be sorry if they set up more showings (And I can't imagine they won't with as well as the first batch sold).

I am not saying that it wouldn't be an awesome experience - although 8 hours on my arse in a theater might be much - but it is a bit rediculous the way they prices are going up on these things. Almost reminds me of them Trek-ees (or Trek-ers, whichever).
