I don't think I'm going to be able to go after all. Gotta help take care of Peigon's player's sister, squeeze in band practice somewhere, and somehow get rid of the pieces of the 40-foot pine tree that fell in our back yard on Wednesday. :(

Well I'm not sure I'll be there early enough to catch the sign in the morning but I'll certainly keep my eyes open for big groups of odd looking people!
Maybe I should just wear a sign that says "DR Player Here"
hehe.

Well, I can't go. Tore some ligaments in my foot. So I'm layed out with my foot up.
Y'all have a drink for me... or two... or four... or six.
And someone find the name of a kilt/scottish shop for me. We think it starts with a 'W', but it's between the jousting area and the Henna shop. It's on the parking lot side. If the outfit I'm looking for is still there, it's all black and is hanging outside on the door. It's all black, so it's not hard to miss.

Maryland Renaissance Festival Post-Mortem on 10/19/2003 06:23 PM CDT
For those of you who didn't make it out this year, we had a great time! This was a wonderful way to spend a day, and I hope more of you will join us next year. My special thanks go, again, to Courtney for completely facilitating my participation in the event, and to Valli for making the sign that gave me an excuse to frolic and caper about merrily. Of course, in the end, it only helped us find one person, Steve. Valli and Patrick came together, and Courney and I looked around until we found them. I assume Steve was better able to find us becuase of me and the sign. We did also attract the attention of one other guy who was a DR player, but he was there with a different group. Sashera came later and found us inside the Fest. But it was still fun for me, since I'll take any opportunity to make a spectacle of myself.
Here are my thoughts on next year:
1) We should still go out to dinner the night before, but to someplace that sucks less than Fuddruckers. Say, Chili's?
2) Everybody should bring their cell phones to the Festival. Someone cough*Valli*cough didn't bring theirs, and wound up separated from the rest of us around the middle of the day. We never met up with her again.
3) If you don't have a cell phone, at least make sure you don't leave the group without setting a definite time and place to meet up again.
4) We should go earlier in the year next time. Some of the acts were only performed until sometime in September or earlier October. Also, it had gotten very chilly by the end of the day.
5) We should go more than once. Of course, that's more for me than the group as a whole. Some of the acts that I wanted to see were on at the same time as each other, so I could only see one. If I visited twice, though, I think I could see pretty much everything.
6) As Courtney and I serendipitously found out, it's a really good idea to park unnecessarily far from the gates. Sure it took us five minutes longer to walk back to the car, but we got out of the lot half an hour before Steve did.
7) Buy your commemorative tankards early! They're not lying when they say they're "limited edition." They had run out by midafternoon on Saturday, which was the second to last day of the Fest. I was still able to get a coffe mug, but I really wanted that tankard.
This was my first Renaissance Festival, and it was a great experience. I'm definitely planning to go back next year, and I can hardly wait!

Dear Jolebin...
Thank you for being there. You just 'capering' around with the Dragon Realms sign before the gates opened was worth the trip. I'm glad you had a good time and I think your suggestions for next year are very good ones. I apologize for not having my cell phone. What can I say? If I'd made Sunhammer carry one more thing for me, I might not have left the Fest alive. To Cailei, Sunhammer, Menlatham, Sashera and of course Hotoke...thank you all for being there. It was great meeting you all, some even for the first time. I had a blast. I only hope that next year, yes already planning, we can get a bigger group to come out and play. Yes, I promise...no Fuddrucker's next year..but then what will you all do to torment me if you can't sing bad Motown songs and dance around the table? <smiles>.
Till next year...

Ah, but Roxana my dear, what ever did happen to you and Sunhammer, last we checked you told Menlatham that you were going to be back in a bit and alas you never returned.
By the way, I posted some of the pictures on my website. Love the ones of Sunhammer and Jolebin dancing to that Motown music you love so much!

Sorry for the late response, but yes, he came in from VT. And, also yes, the boots were very sexy.

Yes..it's that time again. Time for me to start bugging you all about the Maryland Renaissance Festival. My summer is crazy, misfortunately, so I won't be able to go except for the very last weekend. October 23 & 24. The way things are going, I'll be lucky to make that. Anyone up for some Dragon's Blood?

Always nice to hear from you. It would be great if we could all get together the very last weekend. I actually like that weekend, only cause things tend to be a little more um...'lax' for lack of a better term. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works out for you.

Ah, the very subject on which I was going to post!
We went the second-to-last weekend last year, and my feeling at that time was that I wished we had gone earlier. A lot of merchandise was sold out, and a few acts had finished their runs. So I guess I'm saying I'd rather go in September. But if we all wind up going at the very end, I'll still join you. Just, I'll probably arrange to go a separate time, earlier. Since my other thought last year was that I wanted to go twice this year.
All right, so who's got a line on discount tickets? They're $12.50 at my company store (reg $17). Anyone have anything better?

Whichever weekend I might find a fair lass of virtue true. Come to think of it, though, I suppose I wouldn't mind a bit of a saucy bint to add a little spice to my day....
Ah, bollocks. What I meant to say is, "any weekend I can get cheap tickets, I'm game." :P

I'm going to go at some point this year, but not in October. I leave for deployment mid-month and won't be able to. I'm going to try to hit it in september.
I'm also going to make a drive to New York to check out the faire up there too. Looking at the website, it appears to be a nice one.

So far the only people I know that are going are, Silverfly, Wryten Dulcinie, Gallanthur and me Chasitee. So if anyone else wants to meet us there, the more the merrier!..

28th of which month again?
If it's this Saturday, that's a bummer. I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to...well...just in case the guy knows my handle (which can be Googled), I'll just say that my not-so-favorite narcissist requires my presence somewhere, and at the time I'm compelled to oblige, much to my chagrin.

So... how can you be sure you've got Maryland Renfest Withdrawal Syndrome? See if you answer "yes" to any of the following:
I sometimes dream I'm at the festival.
The taste of meade or ale makes me wistful.
I read histories of the time to brush up on my authenticity and Shakespeare to work on my vocabulary.
I drive down Crownsville road cause it's only an hour out of the way, and I've got to be sure nothing's going on behind my back.
DragonRealms at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Saturday, October 23rd. Early to late!
Dinner the night before if someone can come up with a better place than Fuddruckers.
