You are a bit too distracted to be observing something.

You retreat back to pole range.

You retreat from combat.
> obs weat
You glance up at the sky.
It is drizzling.

I can't tell if its raining or sunny out because I'm standing next to a goblin or an armadillo of doom? I mean its not rocket surgery or anything. I don't have to seek out a specific part of the sky and make detailed notes in order to determine what the current weather is. Heck, I wouldn't even really need to do anything except maybe glance up quickly to see if the cloud cover is full or partial.

I know the OBSERVE verb is tied into a ton of other things that do require a focused study that would require no distractions and that mechanically its probably impossible to distinguish between the two so this was an unfortunate compromise. Could we get an alternate verb that is specific to the weather, or ideally hack to the current one to allow it in combat?

Rather than tinker with the Observe command, what about make a new one- Weather? That was you can see if it's raining even while you're having to watch out for that 'dillo.

>> Weathery Commandy Stuff

We have a Field Experience window that updates frequently.

We have an Atmospherics Window. Why can't we have it update with a simple statement each time the weather updates when you're outdoors?

You feel that it's a nice day.
You feel the pitter-patter of light rain.
You feel heavy raindrops on your back.
You are becoming waterlogged from the heavy downpour.
You are shocked you're still standing in this hurricane.
You feel the wonder of a few snowflakes on your hand.
For the love of Hodierna and all that is holy, how can you seriously not notice that the entire desert is hurling itself at you, one grain at a time, at 100 miles an hour?

You know, stuff like that.

You should re-post that suggestion in the general suggestions for DR topic of the discussions with staff folder. It's a really good idea, and might be something fairly easy to add, depending on how they go about doing it. I'd hate to see it go unnoticed.

I find it funny when I am climb practicing with my character, he can't figure out if snow, rain, or sand is slamming into him, or if it is a prefectly sunny day...

My character: not noticing how bright the surface I am climbing is.

My character not noticing how the rain is making all the climbing surfaces slippery.

My character not noticing, things that should just be noticed.

Should I mention his perception? Yes, but skill has nothing to do with it.
